Peterson to the farm doesn't really scare me at all. BSU and Stanford are pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum. How well will he do at recruiting kids to a school without a major in truck driving? Kidding aside, it takes someone special to succeed at Stanford and the formula that Peterson used at Boise doesn't necessarily translate.

I think he would have a decent first year with the nucleus that Harbaugh has put together. He would also leverage his recent success and Stanford's recent success into an OK recruiting class. But I would think the luster wears off in year 2, after Luck leaves and it is all down hill from there. I have no doubt that Peterson can be successful outside of Boise, but I don't necessarily see him being successful in Palo Alto.

I think Peterson is a tad overrated as he doesn't go head-to-head with a lot of good teams. I think he'll only fair slightly better than Dan Hawkins if he gets to a BCS-level school.

I agree. And Stanford isn't just a BCS level school. They are a BCS school at a recruiting disadvantage with a less than passionate fan base. I think Peterson could easily be in the front running for most jobs that open up in the country. I think he would be better served if he waits for something a little less challenging to open up.

Register Guard today says that Bellotti hasn't even been contacted by Stanford, but that he would listen if they do. Personally I don't think Petterson could even duplicate what Harbaugh has been able to do, I do think he would keep the Cardinal winning but more like 8 wins a year not 11-12 wins a year. At Stanford though 8-9 wins would be good enough to stick around for a long time.

I read in the Arizona Republic that Bellotti hasn't been contacted by Stanford and he hasn't contacted them either. He said that if he was was, he'd recommend Chris Petersen.

I think next year regardless of the coach, Stanford is still a top 10 team. But that's purely because of Luck. After that who knows?

On Monday, Petersen finally answered the question about his immediate future by indicating that he will be staying at Boise State. By turning down Stanford, Petersen allowed Bronco Nation one more sigh of relief after losing Assistant Head Coach Brent Pease to Indiana and Offensive Coordinator Bryan Harsin to Texas in recent days. Losing Petersen would have been the death blow.
