The most disappointing thing to me is that I've felt, like many others, that we were going to end up with Brown and now if we do the public perception is going to be that we got him by default because Miami walked away.

I have a feeling that this thing is going to drag on past the 16th now.
I'm still not sure what Butler has done against any rules or really any different than the way HS coaches answer for players or Rivals charges for info.

Maybe so, but I would still love to have him. Plus, who cares what the public thinks right?

Don't necessarly care what the public thinks as much as I wanted the publicity that comes with stealing the #1 recruit away from a big-time school like Miami.
Think about the message that sends to recruits...the #1 player in the country chose to pass on Miami, even with their history of sending players to the league and despite the fact that his brother is enrolled there, to come to Oregon. If I'm a top-notch player it's sure going to make me think that maybe I should check out what's going on in Eugene before I commit somewhere else.

Yes, but in the above scenario Brown still would have chosen Oregon over LSU, Tennessee, USC and the countless other schools in the country that would loved to have landed him.

Correct, and that's outstanding, but you know that if Brown commits to the Ducks all you will see is that he signed with us after Miami pulled it's offer...

He's the #1 player in the country. He would be choosing us over every other school in the nation, regardless of the situation. Who cares anyway? We would be getting him, who cares what the "public perception" is. No one will care when he runs for 2,000 yrd & wins a heisman.

I agree. Bryce hasn't done anything wrong. He hasn't done drugs, beat up his g/f, or done anything like that. It's a bizarre situation, but Bryce Brown is talented player with a good attitude. He's a school changer.
As long as he's still undecided, I'll be hoping like hell that he comes to Oregon.

Bryce Brown is gonna do whatever Bryce Brown wants or is able to do...If that involves signing on with the Ducks, its a fantastic thing....
But, back to the Butler issue, these kinda guys need to be kept totally out of the process...Having a HS coach or parents involved in the decision making and choosing of potential schools is one thing...Some dude doin not much more than than trying to make $$$ trying to place these kids someplace, seems just wrong...if it is even legal......
Not to mention the freakin drama...It seems to be more commonplace than not these days....

Should it also be illegal for prep schools to charge tuition for training student athletes and assisting in the recruiting process?
