We were only down by 2 with like 3 minutes left, then Porter tried to do it all by himself.

Back to the same crap tonight. Poor shooting by Oregon and good shooting by their opponent. Too many 3 point attemps and poor free throw shooting. Inconsistency again from guys like Catron and Dunigan.

That was bad. The game was there to win, then.....game over. Ernie said after the game, "I don't know what better offense I can give these guys then easy lay ups".

Crap like that is what makes me dislike him. Can you throw your players under the bus anymore than that?! You come on the radio & that is one of the first things out of your mouth?! Freaking rediculous.

I really don't see anything wrong with that statement. He can't control missing lay-ups. The ball just bounces funny on the rim sometimes and they don't go in. Young players tend to have trouble at finishing at the rim in college for some reason. Those lay-ups will fall eventually.

Fact is, is that we are not a good team right now. Yes we have some nice momentum heading into the pac-10 tourny where ernie usually puts together nice runs but the point is that honestly ANYONE can recruit players to oregon. Nike, a new arena, a top 5 student section and 1st round picks. Sure ernie does an OK job at recruiting but he needs to be fired. Once Wilson commits and signs an LOI ernie needs to go. This year was just unacceptable. EVERY SINGLE GAME when oregon is even CLOSE to the other team ernie's strategy consists of give the ball to tajuan porter and get out of his way. Which can work fine with a star player like a blake griffin or stephen curry or hasheem thabeet or dejuan blair, but tajuan porter?????? The only place he is dominant is at the free throw line. He is NOT a closer. We've seen this in MANY different games, UCLA, now USC, we've seen it against MANY teams. The ONLY scenario where porter should be closing games in when we are ahead and need free throws. The games Oregon has won who was the key player down the stretch? Josh Crittle, Matthew Humphrey were the ones taking the big shots and porter was the one pushing the ball. This needs to happen again. Porter is a fine player but he isn't the "scorer" everyone says he is. He is after all shooting under 45% for the year. Ernie Kent needs to adapt his end game strategy now or pay the price later.

Anyone can recruit kids to Oregon? That's really not true. There is relatively poor HS basketball in Oregon, and California has three teams that are top tier Pac-10 teams. Kent has done a great job of going all the way out to Chicago and bringing kids back. As we've seen in football, distance isn't an easy thing to overcome. And Kent's done a great job of doing so. He is more than decent at recruiting.

I agree, although I have read that getting Wilson means Kent will be here next season.

You agree???...it's easy to recruit to Oregon?...Because of first round picks and a new stadium?...The reason we have had first round picks is EK's ability to recruit and the new arena is being built because of his success...I love this board but boy do I hate ignorant posts that are blatant shots at someone with completely unfounded statements...don't get me wrong...this season is a huge disappointment...and it's due a pass because of the youth and the way they have continued to battle and grow and EK's history...But next season will have higher expectations...But to say the things you said is beyond ridiculous...Duckgrad this isn't at you as I understand your frustration and I know that you weren't agreeing at his entire statement...It just frustrates me when people that don't understand the game post gibberish.

It's all good, I didn't agree with the recruiting statement. It was the rest of the stuff he talked about that I thought was right on.

I cannot believe Dunigan only got 20 minutes last night. He finished with 3 fouls and could have played more. One of my biggest criticisms of Kent is his use of certain players. Dunigan often gets into foul trouble, but there have been several games where he only gets 15-20 minutes per game when fouls aren't an issue. At this point in the season, I don't understand the need to bring him along so slowly. Oregon needs to learn how to win by not relying on Porter. I don't know if many people will agree with this, but I think Oregon might be a better team when Porter is no longer here. I think it will force us to go inside more, get other players involved and not focus so much on the three point shot. I think the player really coming along has been Crittle. I already prefer him to Catron.

OMG...please tell me you're not excusing the players for missing lay-ups. With that said...GTFO Ernie!

I agree. When we lose, it is because he is missing his shots.

Yeah because a few missed lay ups are what lost us the game

That game was lost because of horrible defense & stupid turnovers at the end. But good old Ernie puts its all on the players & a few missed lay ups.
