Maybe it's semantics but to me a really damn good class addresses needs and IMO they didn't do that everywhere

Just noticed Jonathan King signed with Indiana. I get him decommitting to follow Slick, but really? How did UO lose him to Indiana?

Hopefully the Bru McCoy rumors are true.
They also have 5* Hawaii DT Faatui Tuitele coming for a visit this weekend. Need to restart that HI pipeline so he doesn't end up at USC or UW.

I think the class calls the coaches competency into question without a doubt

Just like this past year, where we missed on guys like Falo and Artis that would have addressed needs and we thought we were going to get; we missed on Williams and a few others this year. Overall, the past two classes have been about 85-90% as good as they could be but there is still room for improvement. On the whole though it's a pretty talented group.

I think we will need a 5* RB and some more WR next year though. With Cristobal as HC and the O-line projecting to be very good for the next 5 years a top RB should want to come here.

They hit just about every position but needed to take 1-2 more WRs, DEs, and CBs. You could tell they wanted more based on how many at those positions they were still after, except for maybe DB (which they didn't start to really go after until it was too late.) That's what makes the class somewhat incomplete in my eyes.

Yes coaches could have closed better. But Oregon will lose more recruits to usc than we will steal from them. Fact. A lot of talk about losing instate recruits. They all wanted to leave the state...everything I’ve read - hufanga, cota Winston all wanted to leave the state. A coach can recruit till the day is done Ian’s sometimes it won’t change a kids mind.

On a side note who was the dude on here who always said he ain’t coming?

That was Hines

It sounds like we somewhat agree

I'm not worried about Winston or hufanga, we didn't have crucial depth problems at their positions

Helfrichs recruiting failure was that he swung for the fences and didn't have a high three star guy to come in when he whiffed

I think Marios failure here was similar. He didn't have guys lined up when Ezeike, Williams and Battle spurned him. He needed more WRs and he just didn't get them.

Something he admitted at the press conference btw

One thing that helped with JJ Tucker (besides us being his only major P5 offer) is that his WR coach at Narbonne is former Duck WR James Finley. Narbonne also has couple big-time 2019 recruits that Oregon is after so getting their foot in there this year could help with those future guys.
