Yikes, this is even worse than I thought, I can’t believe this is entirely a “NIL” issue but an issue with the leadership of Oregon basketball.

Not having a starting C or PG yet is very concerning with how few top 150 players are left. Might be lucky to finish at .500 if they don't land some players fast. Oregon's NIL must be super low if they can't even land a single top 50 transfer.

I think I saw something that said those are the two positions that are demanding the most NIL.

C and SF were seen as the most expensive with PG still one of the cheapest positions given the position's value on the floor. It's when you get into the top 50-75 range that the demand and NIL really gets competitive and sometimes cost-prohibitive.

Oregon is hosting Alabama F Taylor Bol Bowen on a visit this weekend. A former top-100 recruit who averaged 8 ppg his SO season at Florida State, his stats dipped this past season due to hand and knee injuries.

Kentucky G Jasper Johnson has committed to Oregon. Never hurts having someone with his offensive potential. Even Mark Pope said he misused Johnson as a backup PG last season instead of his more natural SG position.

But, that’ll be the ceiling. We’ll likely never see an Oregon natty in bball, but it would at least be nice to make some deep runs again to keep the interest up.

Not that any of us saw it but we do have that 1939 Natty!
In 1939 we had that guy to take over the game. My Great, great grandfather remembers it vividly im sure.

Injuries you say? Perfect fit!

Injuries you say? Perfect fit! On the bright side he is tall, might be who Altman is looking at to play the 5.

After reading the bama forums about him. They seem to like him but say he is way to frail to play center and is best suited as a SF even though he is listed at 6'10"

For sure not entirely an NIL issue but if we only have $6-8 million and the majority of the Big 5 conference teams are operating with $10mil plus. It’s gonna be tough to beat teams out in the recruiting trail.

If we did an honest assessment of all the college basketball teams. Oregon would probably be ranked like in the 40-65 range. Would you disagree?

So San Jose State PG Colby Garland will be visiting tomorrow. They really need to lock him down with all their other PG options off the board.

Ha if we end up with Colby Garland that would be a laughable irony.

He wouldn’t have been our first choice as he’s looked into many other schools, and we’ve exhausted our guard options as well.

Regardless of how it happens, if we land him, he would be a very welcomed addition!
