That one guy would do all that?
Not sure why the laughing, if he’s as mid as people are saying, Oregon brining him would be a pretty big indication that he would be capable of competing with/playing over the WR on the team. That would seem to be a pretty considerable drop off from this year, where most assume the 3 starters are NFL guys.
This is a total reach. I count at least 11 scholarship receivers on the team this year. You are talking about one guy - a guy who Tennessee apparently wants as well. This guy just got two years of eligibility thanks to the recent court decision regarding former JC players. I have zero problems with acquiring a veteran guy to help with stability as the wide receiver room transitions from Tez and whoever else is graduating/transferring and younger guys take over. I am also not shocked that Oregon is not able to find Alabama or Ohio State starter-quality wideouts in the transfer portal. We were happy to get Chase Cota out of the portal a few years ago and that seemed to work out pretty well. That is how I view something like this if it even happens. What I am fairly confident about is that signing one well-traveled receiver will not be the harbinger of doom for the Duck offense next year. People need to calm down.

Again, this goes back to my sentiment last night -- trust the recruiting! Lowe, J-Mac, Dickey, Dakorien Moore, Kasper, Pellum, Dillon Gresham, Cooper Perry, Bryant. Jr ... I'm at the point with the Ducks that unless a Portal player is an absolute game-changer, we need to focus on internal development.

The coaches know WAY more than me but as others have mentioned, this would not be the best sign.

I think the part about this signing causing an issue might be the part where the misunderstanding is coming from. He said the signing would indicate it, not cause it. I’d 100% agree that this signing isn’t going to cause anything, and as I said in my response the idea that it could indicate the more mediocre talent level was the premise others had floated that he was mid or lower talent level. I’d never heard of the guy and don’t know much about him. If what you’re saying is more accurate, then it sounds like a veteran presence to come maybe help the young guys forward or steady an inexperienced room.

I believe players now have 2 weeks to put their names into the Portal.

I wonder if the stink of that game gets Phil involved in either keeping or obtaining draft eligible talent. If Ryan Williams becomes a Duck I suppose we'll have our answer, lol.

The most obvious conclusion until more information comes out would seem like he thought he could win a job, realized how far behind the others he was and will end up at Cal where they desperately need someone at QB after Mendoza left.

A 5* commit who made a last-minute decision to go to another west coast school? Maybe we'll see him in Eugene on Moore time....

In this case I don't know if there will be any kind of reunion happening due to actually showing up here and then bouncing before Spring Ball.

While we hope it portends good things about Moore being QB1, I'm also hopeful this move is all because of Akili Jr showing that in a few practices he was far and away the better of the 2 freshmen QBs and that he's the reason Jaron is leaving and less because of Dante (or Austin).

The culture has changed because of NIL and the portal. I am old and miss how it was when players would stay and be developed. Some guys seldom played, but they did their best. It's all money now. Did you see where the Boise State coach said that they cannot compete with schools offering two to ten times as much money as BSU can offer?

Hate seeing a transfer this fast but players want to play sooner rather than later these days. Was really looking forward to Oregon potentially having another Hawaiian star QB. Just hope that Moore works out and they don't lose too many more bodies from the QB room. Could be a scary scenario where Novosad also transfers and the room is just Moore, Moga, and Smith Jr. In that scenario, I could see them seek out another transfer.

If someone leaves this quickly I don’t have confidence they’ll ever be something special, what happened to being motivated and wanting beat out the best? This is just so soft to me and why we need to add a rule that a player needs to stay at a school for at least 2 years and getting rid of the redshirt and having 5 years of eligibility. Players can’t bail on their NFL contracts this quickly, so why should college players?
