I was momentarily distracted by the renewed debate over HS mascot names...

Last movie I watched front to back was Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Gotta agree with everyone else. Super movie. When else can you cheer for a mysterious hot chick kicking a steel rod into an dude's brown bottlecap.

Last movie in a theatre was Clash of the Titans 3D. Meh. Thought the $8/pound gummy bears were better.

Great thread. Fun to read comments like "Can't wait until Avatar comes out."

Looking forward to the new Johnny Depp movie - '72 vampire, can't think of the name right now.

"Dark Shadows", is based on an extremely campy Gothic soap opera, that debuted in 1966... Depp should be perfect for the character of Barnabas Collins, an angst ridden vampire, played by actor Jonathon Frid.

Too bad Frid died recently, just before the movie opened.

The Avengers: Great culmination to the previous Marvel movies, especially with the action sequences. Very witty banter and dialogue amongst the team and associated characters. Each character gets a time to shine. Plot is very straightforward (no major twists or turns) but it's executed well. 3D is okay but not at the same level as like Avatar or Transformers 3. 9.5/10

Safehouse: Very intense thriller with action scenes that remind me of The Bourne movies (very close-in and somewhat shaky camera). Good performances from Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington (as usual). Only things holding the movie back were the backstory was somewhat weak and the main plot is somewhat thin and predictable. 7/10

Avengers was great, greenyellow summed it up very well. It was a very simple, but awesome movie.

I'm going to see it tonight....I'm trying to decide if I should go as Thor or Tony Stark. Tough decision...if I go as Tony I have to trim my beard back and cut my golden locks. However, if I go as Thor I will have to wear my chain mail all night and in the Louisiana humidity It would rust up in no time, then there is the awkwardness of finding a spot for my hammer so people won’t trip over it.

Sigh...decisions...decisions.

In any event the Hulk is out…to have to eat pop corn with the fist on.

Almost didn't hear that due to my audience laughing so hard at what preceded Hulk's line.

The movie was filled with funny lines/moments. Much more “witty banter” than I expected. Very good movie.

Took my Mom out to eat and watch a movie for Mother’s Day. It was between The Raven and Dark Shadows. We choose Dark Shadows because we both like Johnny Depp and thought it would be funny. Good GOD we wrong. Don’t get me wrong, it had its moments and was slightly entertaining, but I have a feeling if I were at home watching it on HBO I would of changed the channel.

The Grey - starring Liam Neeson.

Basic plot is a planeload of North Slope workers crash returning to Anchorage from Barrow and are hunted by a pack of wolves. The "Grey" is the pack alpha male.

Script obviously written by a person who has never slept outdoors: To wit, its snowing and storm clouds crackle in the background (actor proclaims bad weather coming). Also, issue of 'hypoxia' (high altitude sickness) when the plane crashes onto vast lowland plains and the highest point enroute might be 5,000 feet coming over the Alaska Range. Liam, the protagonist, advises the seven plane survivors to leave the shelter of the shattered plane cabin to trek aimlessly into the wilderness. Worst of all, after cleverly teaching the then five survivors how to make bang sticks using shotgun shells, they kill one wolf and you never see these bang sticks again.

I can go on.

Not a real wolf in the entire show. The animated wolf in 300, while less realistic, was a gazillion times more enthralling.

Two big middle fingers up.

P.s. The Alpha male in the final scene is frigging black.
