Yeah, that oughta throw off the balance in the SEC West...

Looks like Tennessee is trying to help too...
http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... en-jackson
Junior safety Janzen Jackson, one of Tennessee's most talented and experienced defenders, has been dismissed from the team.
Coach Derek Dooley announced Jackson's dismissal Wednesday. Dooley declined to divulge specifics, but sources told ESPN.com that Jackson has battled substance-abuse issues during his time at Tennessee and failed multiple drug tests.

Remember when LSU felt spurned that Janzen Jackson didn't pick them? Thank God! Wasn't he also somehow involved with that group of Vol players that committed the armed robbery?

Fishhead... excellent post, kudos. Welcome to our world... last year with the LMJ/choking his GF we went through the same thing... in fact I bet if you polled 100 average college football fans outside of Oregon 99% would still believe he beat the crap out of his GF and got off light with a one game suspension. Thats not how it went down, but thats how it was portrayed in the media.
There are ALWAYS two sides to every story and usually one side is much more "exciting" than the other... guess which one gets pub?!?
Blame the 24 hour news cycle, the internet and dying news papers for the sensationalism. The teams/coaches/players we love dont care about outside influence and what others think... Im trying to do the same.

Stuff being said on other sites...
I am hearing all sorts of stuff now, has anybody else heard any of this yet?
- The victim is on video assaulting a female inside the bar
- A grad student completely unbiased has come forward with her version of the story and is saying that the incident started in the bar by the Marine pushing a female, the 4 victims managed to make it out of the bar and into the truck...... the driver of the truck made a racial slur upon leaving, that when all hell broke loose, and that Jefferson was not involved in anything other than attempting to break up the fight.
I will add to that rumor. The Marine is a part-time bouncer at Shady's but wasn't working that night and wasn't only kicked out once but twice for harassing the female. Some of the players stepped in confronted him and that is when the bar shut down. Didn't hear that any players hit anyone inside the bar. The Marine went to his truck with his friends and waited outside in his truck.
So I was wondering, if it comes out that JJ was in fact not there, or that the worst thing he did was trying to break up the fight, do y’all still think he should be suspended? Keep in mind that for the past umpteen years the players have been breaking curfew on that day, kinda like senor skip day like Fishhead pointed out…so the coaches were ok with them breaking it, therefore technically no team rule was actually broken. Just wondering.

If our starting QB was underage, broke curfew, went to a bar (which is illegal here), and wound up in a fight that made national news..... I would want him to miss a game or two.

If he wasn't involved in the fight or tried to break it up, play him -- he didn't do anything wrong. And, personally, I never thought that breaking curfew once should result in a suspension. Just go run the bleachers a few times.

I agree...and in Louisiana it's legal to be in a bar under 21, you just can't drink or play video poker. JJ himself is probably 21 anyway. Of course, we ARE the land of the drive-thru daiquiri shop!

hmm...ok lets play "what if."
(1) What if 18 was the legal age in Oregon?
(2) What if the coaches all knew the kids were going to break curfew and allowed them to do so?
(3) What if his involvement in the fight was to break it up?
(4) What if the national news got it horribly wrong and smeared his name for no reason?
I don’t like playing the what if game, but sometime it is needed to place yourself in another shoes…BTW I’m not saying that he didn’t actively fight, I’m just saying that it is a stronge possibility at this point.

Drive thru bars too!

Hammers in Vidalia will sell you a 32oz mix drink as you drive thru their store…and when I mean drive thru I mean THRU! It is a converted barn.
Oh, JJ turns 21 this week .... I think.

And just so I am not guilty of spreading a false rumor…. The police said that the players interviewed made no claims of a racial slur.

The problem with the media in these cases is that the people involved
are presumed guilty. Even tho it's supposed to be presumed innocent until
proved guilty. Then people buy into that and away we go with the rumors, miss
info. No one really knows except those involved what really happened.
The fine folks in the media sure don't they can only assume. They then take
those assumptions and add some color and pretty soon the world will end. So in
this case and others that have come out here at Oregon i will wait til those in
the know and authority sort through it all.

See…that is kind of my train of thought. We really don’t know what happened, and if JJ really didn’t do anything, and it will come out if he did or didn’t, why should we suspend him based on all the rumors. If the kid is innocent we would of punished him and the team for nothing.
How did Kelly handle the LMJ situation?
