I'm too lazy to dig it up, but the calendar comments mirror more-or-less exactly the comments Lanning made preseason on somebody's podcast.

Regarding freedom of movement, he's never going to win that battle. The US courts have basically said that students can go wherever they want. So that one is sort of dead.

The insanity of recruiting, NIL, and mid-season coaching changes are just 3 reasons off the top of my head I could think of leaving for the NFL.

Well if Stein really thought of UK as his dream job then I think he and Tosh made the best choice from their respective positions but I think Hartline has a chance to parlay his job into a much bigger position than Cal or UK.

Stein has a premium conference but is the basketball school there so turning it around will be toughest for him.

Tosh seems like the biggest Wild-Card in that if he's successful he could actually turn Cal into the state's best team with the easiest chance to the Playoffs every year or he could just be another typical Cal coach.

Whereas I think Hartline recognizes that if he wants the OSU job he's going to need to wait until Ryan Day is tired of the place or they're tired of him and this is his chance to develop as a HC now and either go back to his school or else take over a prime gig in the region in a few years time if he's successful.

To that end I think Tosh chose best followed by Hartline and then Stein. I've already mentioned that if this is his place than all the power to Stein, but from an outside perspective, if we go on a good run in the Playoffs or win it all, his name would be 1A or 1B for most every job next year.

I think there's real value in taking one of the better G5 jobs in order to get a better P4 job. How much longer will Josh Heupel be the HC in Knoxville and in the case of Hartline, he's able to start building his own coaching chops away from Ohio State and doing so in arguably the best recruiting ground in the country.

Yeah it seems Tosh has best chance to succeed. Cal is a good fit for him. I feel like Hartline going to USF is meh. I figured he could get a better gig.
