We ran 44 plays to their 66. Unless the changes are positive and drastic I only see Portland State as a sure win.

Close to the top 25 could mean that a total turnaround would keep at least some playoff hopes alive, but with OSU being so far out I don’t know that a playoff berth would even be possible even with a wholesale change. You still gotta hope that they have a winning season, there are a lot of players that came back because of unfinished business that are hopeful that they may have a shot.
If teams aren’t reinventing themselves they will lose ground. Sure some things that worked last year we should keep doing if it still works but opposing teams know our strengths and weaknesses and if we don’t change at all, we make it easier for them.pezsez1 wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 2:48 pm Someone tell Dan that there have been glaring issues over the past couple years.
This is where not getting some new blood into the program after losing Stein, Lupoi, and a lot of key staffers that left with them hurt this team. You're either growing and changing or getting stagnant and falling behind without new ideas and wrinkles.GDuck wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 2:51 pmIf teams aren’t reinventing themselves they will lose ground. Yep, this exactlygreenyellow wrote:
Uh yes it can. The teams issue isn’t playcalling, it’s execution. Unless you’ve reviewed the film already and have a breakdown of the play calls and why they were so poor.OregonFan4Life wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 3:33 pm I know Dan won’t do this but I wonder if he’d consider an immediate demotion for Drew and try Ross Douglas out as the playcaller. It honestly can’t get worse than Drew.

lol you’re another one of those fans, “well if the players just execute”, we’ve been hearing that for a while, when will it fall on the coaches? The Oregon fan base is way too positive about the coaching staff; we see one of the worst coached games in Oregon history, and week 1 was far from good, it’s clear something is broken in the coaching staff, not sure if it’s Dan, Drew, or something else; but if we don’t see improvement by week 4 we’ll get blown out by USC and the season will be officially lost.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Uh yes it can. I’m honestly dumbfounded at how much defense I’m seeing from this fanbase for Drew Mehringer. Are players supposed to coach themselves? When we see execution issues, confusion, attitude issues like Dak sitting on the sideline instead of going to the locker room with his team, does that not fall on the entire coaching staff? For me right now the only coach I’m OK with is Ross Douglas, the rest need to get chewed out and lose their pay for a week.pezsez1 wrote:It's absolutely playcalling. You can't have so much NOT work and just say it's execution/energy/etc. Defenses figured out the Will Stein offense a year ago and now we're running a bastardized version of it. Maybe some of it is execution too but it all starts with the play call. It's probably hard to execute when the defense is constantly a step ahead.
Game planning and play design influence execution.dthomas=ddixon wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 3:38 pmUh yes it can. The teams issue isn’t playcalling, it’s execution.
