Which is why it's time to move on from Lanning. Can't run the program with zero accountability. Starting to believe the rumors of guys not working out during the off-season.
Holy smokes, I swear some people in this fan base are insane. Who do you think they would get that would be an upgrade? They finally get a guy that actually wants to stick around Eugene, and you're ready to push him out the door at the first sign of adversity. I hate the fire everyone culture in sports these days. It's absolutely annoying.

Any coach would do well with a $50 million NIL budget. Oregon has a massive advantage right now and it's being squandered by a mediocre coach. That stupid bill will probably pass, and the window will close.

But Lanning isn't it. It's not a fluke he wants to stay. Oregon is a top 3, top 5ish job as long as NIL remains as it is.

He won the big10 Oregon's first season in it, went to the playoffs twice and had the unfortunate luck of having his coordinators with one foot out the door both seasons. Sure, he made a bad call with this OC, but let's wait and see if he learns from it after this season.
He hasn’t learned to win the big games. He gets outcoached, even embarrassingly so in those games. Yes, give him some time. But then he needs to quit hiring only from within. He is the CEO of this machine. There are prices to pay as a CEO, meaning you better make this machine better. If you don’t, you are held accountable. All on you.

I beg to differ. They beat a good Boise State team, lost to Okie State, which was an obvious fluke, but they're still a decent team. If we had Dante today, or if Thomas had come in sooner, we would have won this game.

We still control our own destiny. Win out and we're in. We've beaten Ohio State in the shoe before. Even if we lose another game, it's still possible that we could make the conference title game.

I've tried to temper my expectations due to my health. Can't get too high or too low, but I'll always love my Ducks.

By the way, anyone who's calling for Lanning's job are are nuts!!
I’m not calling for his job. There is no way this Duck team will win at Ohio St and probably will lose more than just that game. They lost with Dante remember. This team just doesn’t have “it”. Would love to eat crow and have this shoved in my face at the end of the season. Just calling it as I see it.

Our QB play is terrible but not surprised with a new QB coach.

Our OL is awful.

Mehringer ain’t it. Purdue can drop 38 but outside of a 1 yard gift we didn’t score all game until the last few minutes.

Get a real OC and a QB coach that can develop our QBs. I miss Dilly and Stein already. They had their own issues but they weren’t producing the worst offensive performance in Autzen in my lifetime.

I’m ok with this, chillen and just enjoying things. But if our offense plays like they did vs Oklahoma State and UCLA, there’s not gonna be much enjoyable.

Sure, the Ducks have had advantages before and that didn't help them hold on to guys. Calling him a mediocre coach is asinine. This team is obviously turning out to be a bit of a mess, but it's a learning experience for a young coach that can be built upon. I don't think the bill passes, because they've tried to tack on some dumb stuff on there that will certainly end up with it being stricken down, but the Ducks have had plenty of success prior to NIL. Even if it did pass, it would be far from a death sentence for the university. (I think teams would likely just go back to paper bag dealings, but that's besides the point) If anything, in a post-Phil world, there's a decent chance they don't have that significant NIL advantage, so it would probably in their best interest for it to pass.

Wondering if his agent isn’t already putting feelers out there. How you go from a ‘10’ to a zero in two weeks of practice is unconscionable. But after this performance, not sure if there are many schools calling.

It would explain the weird attitude at the presser.

Not exactly what you're expecting. Do you want him to say "f*** these kids" or something like that? I'm sure he gets on them in the locker room, but it's not in his nature to throw the kids under the bus in the press. I'm not sure it would be productive if he did. He's got a similar style to Altman where he takes the accountability rather than throwing the kids under the bus.

I want him to at least sound frustrated at the loss. He comes across like he's in the middle of a mildly annoying errand.

A better OL (players/coach) and OC would do wonders for all QBs on the roster. Dante was nervous back there and Raiola completely folded (wouldn’t have predicted that) and Thomas did okay because they had to pass - he showed some courage but just doesn’t have the size/arm talent.

I think you're looking too far into things. You always try to psychoanalyze players and coaches after losses, and I think sometimes it's not as deep as you want it to be.
