Lanning's post game is live. He's not even mad. Doesn't sound like he cares.
I legit think he might be moving on…..

I just think he is resigned from where he is now. To those that are ok with this early season, or think it will all get better, I don’t understand your world. We are half a season in, and no game looks even remotely comfortable going in. I have zero faith in any game this season going forward. I think the coaching is proving it is terrible. Whether it is talent evaluation, whom to pay, who calls what plays, what to play, there has been plenty of proof of getting beaten pretty good by coaches that have a stone-faced plan, and not being able to match the intensity, or scheme. Just not working, if you are looking at playing for championships.

I think our offensive coaching staff is simply in over their heads. I also think Dan has some offensive philosophies but I think he needs to give up on that and let a strong offensive mind come in and take full control of the offense. Like what Ryan Day did but with the defense.
Ever notice Oregon rarely passes down the middle on moderate or deep routes other than to the TE? We pass to the sideline all the time. If we do pass in the middle it is usually a short slant. I would think this makes it much easier on the defense to defend. I don’t see anything special with our passing offense and in fact, it looks very vanilla.

Hence the predictability. Mehringer is toast, either tomorrow or end of year. Not soon enough. Doners won’t let this continue. Worst offensive performance at home in 36 years? With a TD that was handed them from the D? Ducks were basically shut out, at home, by a team that gave up 30 plus to Purdue. No excuses.
Oregon's roster keeps getting more and more talented... but over the past three seasons, we've just looked increasingly disjointed. The Will Stein coaching tree peaked with beating Ohio State at Autzen and it's been slowly downhill since then. Hiring from within going into such a pivotal season was such an epic mistake. That might have been the most important time in school history for replacing both coordinators, and it's fair to conclude that Lanning choked. It's not just losing two of our first five games, it's how bad we've looked while doing it. Is anyone on the team playing better than they were last season? Even that stud safety we got from Minnesota has regressed. I'm not seeing any improvement, I'm seeing guys make bad decisions all over the place, I'm seeing Dan Lanning still doing dumb Dan Lanning things, like going for 2 when we could grab an easy point. This isn't a video game, this is the real thing, but these coaches (who are paid millions) still aren't giving winning efforts when it counts.
I've seen zero indication that Lanning will do the right thing today. But what he should do is fire the OC immediately and send a message that the standard WILL be elevated. Talking about all that stuff for Ducks vs Them videos is great for social media, but ACTUALLY RAISING THE STANDARD is what will result in more wins and that elusive national title. Lanning must conduct a national search this offseason to find the best-possible OC for the talent on this team. And Hampton's job shouldn't be guaranteed either. The defense is doing the bare minimum to keep us in games, and our D-line has been a colossal disappointment.
GO DUCKS. But this season is over. Hopefully the wheels don't completely fly off, and hopefully this finally lights a fire under Lanning and forces him to grow into the coach we all think he can be.

Great take. Talent gets better, coaching gets worse. Better make it an open hiring process this time.

That seems like a giant leap just from that press conference. He's clearly frustrated but not wanting to throw people under the bus in public. I think he knows that he made the wrong hires this offseason. Him talking about setting a good example for his sons in handling adversity is a big reason why we didn't see him get too angry today. I'm sure his speech in the locker room was a lot more fiery than that and the meetings this week will be as well.

It would explain the weird attitude at the presser.
I think you all have PTSD from other coaches leaving. No one in their right mind should want Dan Lanning to move on.
Last week the same guys that thought D. Raiola was the 2nd coming or something are now saying this crazy stuff. You were wrong about that. You're wrong about this.
I haven't seen anyone say they want Lanning gone. He's shown he can be a great coach with capable coordinators. His problem was that when he should have gone out and found the best-possible replacements for Tosh and Stein, instead he promoted inexperienced assistants from within. That was a massive mistake.
Credit to Will Stein! His OC was the OC and QB coach at LSU. That's good experience! Our guy called a bad season at Rutgers.
