Im sure Chip Kelly will consider moving Harper to RB since we are loaded with WR but not much expernice players. All Ducks need to do is win 9-10 games to get top recuirters commit to us.

Chump I do like you, just from following your posts, I don't think you are being sarcastic. However, the timing and choice of thread makes me hope I am wrong. That aside no matter what position Harper plays Chip will have us dialed in and I think we will win 10 or more games next year. (that said, we just did and also we just didn't)

Well if you followed anything I said lately I actually said I didn't like our chances as much but I still picked Oregon.

If you have followed browns recruitment at all you would know Brown has said since about December Oregon is his favorite and best fit. He said he would go to sleep dreaming about playing for Oregon. Coach Kelly was the only coach after he decommitted he openly talked about and praised. All signes pointed to Oregon being in the driver seat.

I was hearing Oregon's chances were very good. I said they were good, backed off it, and went back to saying Oregon on a GUT feeling, not new info out last night.

Recruiting is a wild and unpredictable ride and not an exact science. Welcome to recruiting.

I'd hope you'd stick around the site and discuss Oregon athletics.

Thank you, actually i was trying to be postive but yes im disappointed with Brown. Im just exciting about Ethan Grant commited to us this early. what im trying to say that If we want Malcom Jones or others big time RB to commit to us without having same situation with Boyd, Brown. We will need to win atleast 9-10 with bowl win and win big on National TV.

Sorry Mops, but there is a very big difference between sharing rumors and hunches, and going around announcing yourself as some ambiguous insider who claims to know anything for a fact. Saying "Boyd/Brown/whomever is a lock, trust me" is just dishonest attention getting. I like this forum because it is (mostly) devoid of obnoxious people pretending to have priveliged information.

That's fine and I'm for sure not jumping on you for getting it wrong, but where did the "BB is a lock" come from? Saying I'm hearing very good things or something is fine, but when someone says that a kid is a lock it's supposed to mean that there's basically no chance he was going elsewhere. So what made you think he was a lock? Or was it just too strong of language?

And don't take this as me jumping on you at all. I really don't mean to be bitching about this.

Hey don't worry about it. I think it's great that you share the info with us. What you do makes this board great. If you give us some info that turns out to be wrong It really doesn't bother me. That's just how recruiting goes & people need to understand that.

It's not an exact science so don't cry when it doesn't turn out how you want it to!

Most of the big players out there felt it was Oregon's hat Bryce would be throwing on. Including people who get paid money to know this stuff: Jeremy Crabtree/Mike Farrell of Rivals for 1 and 2. Guess how much money we all pay Mops.
Point is Bryce probably was all Oregon until that re-visit to UT likely put some newness in his head that probably tipped the scales.
Really I'm disappointed and I'm not going to bash Bryce as a person and or player. I'm sure he'll be great.
However one thing that disappointed me is that this whole time he talked about relationships with coaches, stats, and stability being factors in his decision. Guess what he picked the school he had the shortest relationship with, the worst rushing stats, and stability....... well he picked a guy who's in his first season. Take nothing from Kiffin, he sold the deal, he can recruit, but I thought Bryce was better than this, I really thought he meant some of those things he said for so long, turns out he's like most other people out there in the world just waiting to be "sold".
Fortunately I can now turn my full attention to the quality that will be our 2010 class.

Well this is the first year I have crossed the line into being a recruiting season junkie. (god willing the last as well) All I have really learned is whether it's Oregon or any other school ("inside" imformation should be taken for what it is worth). The problem probably lies in the fact that people believe what they want to believe. Also these kids are 17 or 18, WE don't think Bryce is responsible enough to buy a lottery ticket but we judge every action and comment he says/does. These kids will change their mind and be influenced by their friends/family/teammates/religion maybe even sex drive. Mops does the best that he can, the fault lies in us wearing those hip colored green glasses. Maybe the word "lock" should be used more sparingly though.

On the other note, before I head off till the season actually starts. Coach B has said a few times that it takes 2 years for a seasons success to correspond to a recruiting class. Perhaps we are starting to see it now and it will get clearer next year. Makes one wonder how much Dixons injury impacted us though.

anyways, nice meeting all of you guys. We will see you all is just a few months.

Very well said jhop!

I'm still blown away he'd pick a team that has shown little ability to run the ball and a conference that TN has little chance on winning in the next few years...just odd but that's a young people for you! He will regret his choice if they don't fair to well and I want to make sure we do our part when we play them...like hanging 60+ points and 400 yards rushing!! Not to mention I want our RB,whoever it is at the time he graduates, to go higher in the draft!

All that said he seems like a good kid and had a very hard time choosing where to go and chose who he felt most comfortable with...DAMN IT!

GO DUCKS!!

All of these close but no cigar outcomes, make me think the coaches jump out of the gate great with these kids but cant finish the deal for one reason or another. Are they to honest? whats the problem? its like if it come down to another school and oregon you can count on the other school every time. What am i missing here?

I think that I lost all my respect for him when he said that the offense wouldn't prepare him for the NFL. That to me comes off as arrogant and ignorant. The offense has proved that it can gain yards and get you to the NFL (Stewart and now JJ.) He comes off very arrogant in saying that he'll be in the NFL. First he has to work hard to get there. The NFL is not a place where you are guaranteed a spot just by being a top HS recruit. Some of the top players in the NFL were never top HS players. I think that it is time we move on from Bryce Brown and focus as fans on the upcoming season and recruiting class.

I slept in past the announcement. Is there anywhere that has video, audio or transcript of what he said?

Not sure how he can say that Oregon can't prepare him for the next level when Jonathan Stewart just went as a first round draft pick and scored 10 TD's in the NFL as a rookie.
