Disagree 100%, Batum is a beast. Murdering the clips right now.oregontrack wrote:camby can play great defense when he has his legs, everyone else on the roster is way too inconsistent for my liking. batum can d up, but it's a lot like his offensive game: it comes and goes.
i like batum and all, but he's ridiculously overvalued by blazer fans. there was a consensus, at one time, that batum was untouchable and we wouldn't include him any deal that could bring back chris paul. that should tell you all you need to know.

Ya I think Batum is a tad overrated, blazers wouldn't trade him for Chris Paul Really? One of the best players in the n.b.a.?

i'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. you disagree that he's inconsistent?UOducksTK1 wrote:Disagree 100%, Batum is a beast. Murdering the clips right now.
no, it was a fan consensus. portland fans have always been obsessed with paul and figuring out ways to trade him, but batum was always considered untouchable in trade discussions.thomas time wrote:Ya I think Batum is a tad overrated, blazers wouldn't trade him for Chris Paul Really? I'd trade him for Chris Paul, I don't disagree with that. Paul/LMA would be nice. But I'd keep Batum unless we could get a top 25 player in the league.

oh. i mean, like i said, i like batum and all, and i wouldn't trade him for garbage like i would, say, raymond felton, i just think he's an undeniably inconstant player. one game he's playing durant as well as anyone in the league, the next he's getting torched by some second year forward from houston. one game he's dropping 27, the next he scores 4. he's talented, but he doesn't produce every night.

2nd in blocks
3rd in steals
6th in turnovers
3rd in off reb
3rd in ft %
1st in 3pt %
3rd in FG%
All from a guy who the 5th most minutes at 27 MPG. 13.3ppg in 27 mpg is very good. He's had double digit figures in 13 of his last 14 games. The one game he didn't, he had 9.
I'm just saying, it's harder to be consistent when you are getting substantial less minutes. Give him 35 a game, and you'll see why people like me drool over him.

And the game he only got 9 points, he had 5 steals and 2 blocks and only shot 6 times.

that's tough to say with any certainty. we gave him a starter's minutes last year, and that worked out so well we went out and traded for gerald wallace because we need a serious upgrade. his PER is good, but PER is a dangerous stat to live by. i'd like to see him play a solid 82 (or 66, this season) before going nuts.

I agree, last year he was mo hesitant and inconsistent. I'm telling you though, this year he's a changed man. He's way more aggressive than before. His jump shot has improved. I want to make him our #2 option after LMA and see how he produces.oregontrack wrote:that's tough to say with any certainty. we gave him a starter's minutes last year, and that worked out so well we went out and traded for gerald wallace because we need a serious upgrade. his PER is good, but PER is a dangerous stat to live by. i'd like to see him play a solid 82 (or 66, this season) before going nuts.

Batum lead the team in offensive rebounds, steals, assists, blocked shots, fgs made, 3pts made, points...
Aldridge even attempted 3 more FGs and 7 more FTs.

Re: Blazers 2011-2012 Season
this team is hot garbage, so i find any statistical analysis regarding teammates to be rather... useless.
some better stats:
batum is second in the nba among 3's in fg%, behind only kevin durant; he's 3rd among 3's in 3 point %, behind marvin williams and richard jefferson, and williams is hardly a volume shooter, and second in blocks behind durant.
he needs to develop his rebounding and passing ability, but his offensive game is beginning to round into form.
