So I say the more quality QBs we have to run CK's offense the better.
He has not done "quite well doing so". He threw some passes against bail-out coverage with a cushion lead, and then he tossed a pass against Oregon State on a trick play. You forget, he was beaten out by Chris Harper for several months, who we're now dismissing as ever playing QB again.
I'm not saying Boyd is "better" than Thomas, I'm saying he could be on par once Spring practices are out (which Boyd will be here for, Winter graduate) simply based on the fact that he is a much higher regarded passer from not only national outlets, but simply watching both player's game tape.

I agree Oregonian. DT got VERY lucky in the BSU game more than a few times.

Harper had poor throwing mechanics from the begining on top of shoulder sourness, he was put in a position to fail because of injuries to the other QB's. Thomas came in and completed passes against a Boise State team that had the lead and was playing the pass to preserve there lead. With the depth that we had at the begining of the season I would imagine that Thomas was in the plans for redshirting not to waste a year of eligibality, not because they thought that Harper was a better overall QB than Thomas. Agree to disagree but thats my thought process. Like I said before Boyd would be huge for Oregon football and the more highly ranked recruits we can bring in the better.

The coaches said from the beginning that Harper was the best 'athlete', with the ball in his hands, on the team, and they were going to find a way to play him. I think maybe that was misinterpreted by a lot of fans to mean he was the best QB... Yet it was repeated by Belloti and company several times that Chris really needed to improve things like reading the defense, throwing mechanics, and understanding the O, as well as healing the injury.
Thomas, on the other hand was red-shirted because the coaches wanted to allow him more time to develop his game and learn the playbook. (And possibly add a few pounds of muscle...) Had Masoli not been injured in the BSU game, or Harper been even a moderately better passer, Thomas might never have seen the field.
Doesn't mean DT isn't a better pure QB than CH, right now... Just means the coaches wanted to take advantage of Chris' athletic upside.
It will be interesting, to say the least, to see what happens if/when Boyd comes on board.
It should make for some entertaining positional competition to watch, at a level rarely seen around here.

This question is simple, Boyd hands down. If Boyd commits not only will we have Boyd but I think that will tip the scales that much more in our favor to get Brown.

It would have to be Boyd. To beat out a lot of big time programs for a big time recruit from accross the country is as good as it gets. The recruit I would want most for next year is DE Evans to help fill the void left by Reed. DE Montgomery to a lesser extent.
