There was a post on 24/7 saying CJ Verdell is 100% a Duck. I think if Carr flips this could change but Taggart and Co. have reached out and he's still on board apparently. As always, take it with a grain of salt.

If this had happened when helfrich was here this board would have been up in arms over losing in state recruits. Just sayin. Best of luck to him seems like a good kid

Doubt it. We have reds, Graham, Lenoir coming in, maybe one or two more 4 stars. Insane DB class and Douglas, while a quality player, most likely would have provided depth.
Sucks losing an in-state commit, but can't blame him if he ends up at ND or Vandy. I'm a Jesuit alum and I know that ND is a dream school for a lot of kids who go there (not sure if it's the case for Douglas or if he's even Catholic though) and Vanderbilt is a great school academically. It wouldn't be surprising to see a Jesuit kid end up there.
With how many CB offers are out there and how far fewer offers are out there to safeties, I'm wondering if the staff takes 4-5 CB's and moves Lovette & Griffin to offense and Robinson back to safety.
Graham, Lenoir, Redd, Brini/Gates, Pickett at CB. Maybe Habibi-Likio at safety (and possibly 1 more? Cotton?)

Agreed. I'd take Gates or Brini over him every day. Others out there too.
Not too familiar with Brini, but I think Gates and Douglas are on about the same level. Douglas has tremendous hips, acceleration and ball skills. Lack top end speed and physicality, but he can develop the latter.
I wouldn't be heartbroken if he decommitted, but I'd certainly be bummed. I also think it's a bad look to let it look like an Oregon kid dropped Oregon for Notre Dame.

Billy Gibson is rumored to be 99% Oregon. Former Miami commit, big Safety.
DD is a guy the Ducks can afford to lose talent and depth wise but as far as building a wall around the State and keeping the local kids here the coaches have a lot of work to do after losing another one, whether by choice or not. I believe there is only one current commit from the state for this class now? Considering there was a fair amount of talent for this year for the state, that's pathetic. The PK's did the right thing by pulling the trigger now before things got even worse. Seems like a good kid though so good luck to him wherever he goes.

He's not really an Oregon kid though, originally from Minnesota. So it's not like he grew up going to duck games.

I know what you mean, and that would be doubly bad (see: Molden), but I still think it perpetuates a sort of trend or understanding among recruits that top Oregon players are 'supposed' to leave the state of Oregon. It's like the exact opposite of Louisiana/LSU.

When did he move out here?
I believe during his sophomore year of high school.

Yeah, because Louisiana is littered with 4 star recruits. LSU can probably walk to the nearest high school and find SEC level athletes, we don't have that luxury. We're lucky if Portland has a handful of D1 caliber players, and this cycle...the top two players are going to Washington and everyone else is kinda average at best. Next cycle will be different however.
And some of those D1 players aren't even originally from this state (see King, Gabe or Tuipulotu, Marlon) so it's not as easy to convince them to come to the home state team. I also really don't think recruits care if others leave the state or not, it shouldn't impact their decision one way or another.

Taking kids from Oregon just to "build a wall" is part of how we got here. We need to cherry pick the best and after Molden and Tuipolotu, Forsyth is the only other Oregon level kid. Just cause other kids go D1 doesn't mean they are "Oregon Level". We should be build a wall around the best talent in the state OSU and others can have the rest as far as I'm concerned.

This is one Taggart isn't upset about losing. There has been talk he was being told to look around for weeks. They like other corners better.
