That was from a USC scout insider. So I guess it depends if you believe in his sources

What if their veiled political references were set in 1951 and were set antagonistic to creeping McCarthyism? Would you feel good knowing years later that you attempted to drown out sentiment that hindsight proved 100% humane and rational? What if it was 1934 and people were making veiled political references about the coming fascist danger? Would you feel silly given hindsight? I'm just curious. I personally believe the blind, ignorant, and disinterested are the most to blame for both the destruction that exists in the world and people's subjection to malfeasance. As it stands, these veiled political references have to do with a narrative that is being sold to Americans that is dangerous and so far, unsupported by concrete evidence or proof. To ignore it or to try to root out sentiment highlighting this fact is a recipe for disaster. Just my 2 cents.
There's always one.

No one is drowning or ignoring anything. This is not the forum for this. If you want to throw in your 2 political cents go to a CNN/FOX new forum and toss dollar bills if you want. It is clearly stated in the rules and guidelines for posting in this forum "no politics". We are all Duck fans here and as soon as you let that crap in it ruins a threat and causes a divide. And yes this goes for backhanded political jokes just because there is always someone who can't take it as that and have to put in there 2 cents.

OK people, just drop the politics stuff entirely already. It's not hard to ignore it and get back on-topic. Next person who mentions it gets the thread closed.

Thank you. I've been watching your actions as a mod, and you're doing a great job.

Bullshit.

If you're going to make a "joke" that indicates a certain perspective on reality is real -- and if indications point to that reality being false -- then do you honestly expect others not to correct the record? And that goes for people on both sides. And that means virtually anything regarding politics will be argued, because fake news and "alternative facts" are sadly real things.

It's difficult to even call you out on your bullshit without wading into politics, and that's why it's absolutely stupid for people to bring up politics here in any way, shape or form.

If we stick to football, then we can actually get into details about why we think the other is on crack without pulling the topic completely off the rails. Talking politics here is a no-win situation.

It's like being pregnant; you either are or you aren't. There's no middle ground with talking politics. You can't just make one dumb joke and then act all surprised when someone responds.

Don't do it, period. And don't blame others for your bad choice.

Yes, I do. The fact that you're getting all of that from a clearly facetious "Blame the Russians" only makes my point.

I kind of miss the days when you could blame the Russians for just about anything and get away with it. I mean, who am I even supposed to say "Love it or leave it" to these days.

No. That is not all that was said.
Also, the rhabdomyolysis thing was Russian hackers. No evidence, but there is a secret report in the HD complex.
I don't have any evidence, you'll have to trust me, but it was definitely Russian hackers. Evidence? We don't need no stinking evidence!
These statements perpetuate the highly politicized myth that our intel community made up accusations of interference to embarrass Donald Trump.

Fact: Everyone, Trump included, acknowledges the evidence and interference. Trump only denies it made a difference.
Just draw a few loyalists from the millions of Duck fans and litter the streets with discarded signs (Doesn't matter what they say, if noone reads'em!), chanting, "IVAN GO HOME!"
This is straight-up bullshit implying that this weekend's massive, peaceful marches resulted in litter up and down streets. It's a myth I've seen perpetuated on memes since the marches. However, it's a myth. Women left their signs outside of two Trump buildings in DC. Otherwise, there was no mass littering problem.

Yes, I'm more in tune with news than most people, so I apologize if you were sincerely unaware of what was said and what it meant.

But this, exactly, is why we shouldn't even joke about politics. You might not even know what you're saying.

Can we move on and talk about Carr's recruitment or is this thread forever off the tracks?

Carr is dead to us by now.

Let me guess... it involves either a snowflake, a safety pin or both, right?

I've seen people here make dumb comments about that, too. And I've wanted badly to correct them for being wrong about that s***, too, but didn't, because this is supposed to be a football forum.

What could you possibly want to say to me? That I'm too right about things, and that makes you mad? (I'm not always right about things, but right now I am.)

Might as well just close this thread down.. Carr isn't gonna come to Eugene per Jhop, and this has been derailed to a political argument

Pontius' post never would have happened it you hadn't taken offense to a Russian hacker joke and made it political.

Which is my point: If you're opposed to talking politics then don't make politics out of a non-political joke. 'Russian hackers' has long since moved from politics and into main-stream culture.
