I guess I just don't get how the inverse isn't true as well. The logic is that a defense getting destroyed on the ground moves defenders up to the box, exposing themselves to play-action and other passes designed to exploit man coverage, right? How does that not also apply to a defense that drops back more defenders to try and shut down, say, intermediate passing routes?nogerO wrote:What came first the chicken or the egg? Just my opinion. The run sets up the pass. 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them are not goodHandsome Dan wrote:Doesn't gouging a defense with quick mid-range passes open up the run though? Also running on first down doesn't guarantee 2nd and 4 any more than a pass, does it?nogerO wrote:Running on first down for a few series sets up the play action. Also tires the defense. Linemen prefer to run the ball so all they have to do is get after the guy in front of them. We have arguably the best stable of backs (assuming RR returns to form with a fresh attitude) in the west.Handsome Dan wrote:Why should one way be preferred over the other?nogerO wrote:Awesome get! I hope with our offensive line and our stable of amazing backs we get back to pounding the rock to set up the pass instead of the other way around. Such High Hope for these Ducks #Bringbackthewings!

Calling plays on second and 3,4,5 yards to go is preferable to second and ten and that scenario leads to a higher percentage of 3 and outs. Also burns more clock to run and gives your defense some rest instead of going right back on the field if the offense goes three and out on passes. Just my .02 cents. Always worked for me when I was calling plays.

Just saw some highlights...jeeze. Not sure we've had someone that big and athletic and strong in a while. Looks like an NFL OT already.

From having talked to him for a bit Moore is a real genuine nice guy too. It's being understated how much of a close knit brotherhood this class has.

"Crush, Kill, Destroy"... Here, let me give you a hand getting outa that mud hole!
Good Grief! Uncle Phil's gonna need to donate a new jumbotron! There may not be enough pixels in the existing screen to handle Moore's highlights!

And what's funny, is how people refuse to believe this kid can come in and push for a starting job at some point next year. I get it, the OL was young last year, but sometimes even a good OL gets beat out by a better player. And this kid is built like a prototype NFL tackle.Phenom wrote:Just saw some highlights...jeeze. Most of you might have no idea who I'm talking about but this kid is built exactly like Taylor Lewan, the LT of the Titans. Lewan is 6'7 310 lbs and is more muscular than massive. He looks more like a bodybuilder than a lineman. In fact they wear the same jersey number too! Let's hope Moore's disposition on the field is as nasty as Lewan's!

Could be in the Jake Fisher/Kyle Long mold as guys who were just physically dominant.

Yeah, for being around 310 this kid has no fat on him.
