Other than JT who by all accounts will be a very long shot, I am wondering if anyone else Oregon would possibly get that would be huge. I think Foreman took us off the list of finalist so can scratch him.

Ceyair Wright is a possibility.

At this point, any quality DB would be huge. We're badly in need.

There’s also potential of landing some big time transfers this year

Grant Gunnell, QB from Arizona, just hit the transfer portal. Oregon wanted him bad out of high school but Sumlin's Texas connections prevailed. I doubt we're in the market for a transfer QB, but I think Gunnell winds up in the NFL so a guy can dream.

If I remember correctly Oregon passed on Gunnell.

He asked me for an Oregon edit the day before he visited. Then he said never mind the day of his visit, he won’t need it. That usually happens if a recruit visits and expects to commit and then is told no, or not now. He hadn’t visited Arizona yet at that point, and he didn’t commit there until after Millen committed to Oregon.

Gunnell has actually been pretty decent for Arizona, 67% completion rate and 15 TDs to 3 INTs. Unfortunately he’s a statue, so I would be surprised if Moorhead is the OC and we want him.

He definitely doesn't fit this offense as well as Arroyo's offense, where there's only a theoretical threat of the QB running, but I also don't think he's a statue. I'll have to watch his tape again, as I haven't in a while.

As far as his recruitment goes, I seem to remember that he was at or near the top of the board, and Millen only came along when it seemed like we weren't going to get Gunnell. In any event, I think surrounded by talent, Gunnell has as much upside as any player in the conference, and was obviously a better prospect than Millen.

During that halftime UO-USF show, the PAC-12 network aired a breakdown of the 3,4 and 5 star signees. It showed UW as the only team with a 5* recruit. Anyone know what recruiting boards they use? Still showed UO at the top, but surprised it didn’t qualify Thompson or KS as 5 stars.

Thompson, Kingsley and Troy F are all 5 stars on various sites.

I believe they’re all right around 30 in the composite but currently 4 stars. For whatever reason 247 doesn’t give the top 32 a 5th star until the final ranking

Their 5 star is the QB Huard. Currently, 247`s composite ranking seems to be the most quoted (over 247`s own rankings, Rivals, and ESPN).

247`s composite currently has 34 "five stars". It is rating Oregons top 3 commits at #35, #36, and #39. So, oh so very close, and the very top of the "four stars".

Rivals likes the Oregon class a bit more. ESPN, while not terrible, as is typical has guys ranked a bit less.
