Update: Too'too is heading to Alabama.

Alabama has 14 early enrollees, 13 people who signed LOI's and 2 transfers. No 25 cap, or rules don't apply to them?

Some of Alabama’s transfers-in and 4-star signees wound up paying their own way, not counting towards the 25 limit.

Some guys will literally pay out of pocket (I’m sure no one reimburses them wink wink) to be at Alabama and turn down full rides to other great football schools.

Since it sounds like we only have one spot left and we’re saving it for JTT, do we go to the transfer portal if he goes elsewhere to fill that last spot? We could use another DB or even DT, but there’s not a lot of talent left in the portal that would be an upgrade. I think our biggest miss was not getting Ika.

Has Katleman received a scholarship yet? Seems like he is definitely deserving.

Could the Ducks be playing the waiting game, to see if there are any more defections, prior to opening camp? They could wait til the last minute to give him the scholarship, no? Be pretty crazy to have two kickers on scholarship.

I wonder if the Ducks would have any interest in Jay Toia, a true freshman DT from Simi Valley, who just entered the portal without ever playing a down for USC.

I have not heard anything as this just happened, but he would seem to fit a big blind spot in their new defensive scheme. If they do not get JTT, I could see them making a play here.

Very strange for him to just transfer. As according to the article, he received raved reviews from Helton and was set to see the field very early.

I spoke to an USC homer who said that Toia did not get along with his position coach. I have no idea what that means, but he did not feel it could be salvaged. The homer also said that Toia was seen as an absolute stud during spring. It's a big loss.

He must have really wanted out, because the Tojans are really thin at that spot, and he was in line for serious playing time.

Toia's top five did not include Oregon, but did have UCLA and Utah. Ouch. I think I would take him over JTT, unless there is an issue with grades or something. Anytime you can get a DT of that caliber, you do it.

He's paying out of state tuition every quarter that the staff sits on their hands.

Katleman should absolutely have a scholarship. Specifically Camden Lewis’. But he was going to pay to attend anyway, and after 12 months you don’t pay out of state tuition - you qualify as an Oregon resident.

Toia commits to UCLA, as expected. That's a really nice pick-up for Chip.

Elijah Blades, lengthy cornerback who the ducks were involved with both out of High School (signed with Nebraska) and JUCO (signed with T A&M) is now in the transfer market. He was the starter at A&M in 2019 and opted out of 2020.
