I'm surprised that he'd jump on this job when there'll almost certainly be better ones in the next 1-2 years. That said, if it is true, he's likely gotten guarantees from the University that they'll start upgrading athletic facilities right away.
It won't take long for him to build a winning program with guarantees of facility improvements and the use of the transfer portal.
I just wonder how long they can keep him? If he starts winning and Mike Norvell stumbles at FSU you can almost bet that he'll have his bags packed.

If sources are true, they'd sure be paying him quite a bit more than they did Dorrell. That $5 million figure would rank #5 in the conference this season.

Even more smoke that Deion is on his way to Boulder. Seems it could be announced once the SWAC CG is done on Saturday.

Anybody else feel like the guys who get shots at head coach are chosen almost more at random than based on merit? 1-year resumes, alma maters, always choosing coordinators out of a handful of major schools. Not sure there's a whole lot of science behind it.

I seems like ADs are trying to be too clever. It’s like they value having the chance of finding the next big thing more than just making a quality hire.

At this point it’s almost worth it, just like with Mullens. He could’ve gone with the safe hire with Chip or Wilcox, but he went for a young unproven guy in Lanning, and I know it’s early but it seems like it’s the right choice. There’s a lot of pressure to keep up with the top programs, and what defines them is elite recruit and elite coaching, so risky over safe is the only way to try and keep up with Bama and Georgia and others.

Looks like he stole Texas ATM's bagman as his DL coach too.
Charles Kelly is expected to be his new DC too.

Liberty is hiring Coastal Carolina HC Jamey Chadwell.
Coastal Carolina looks to be going after NC State OC Tim Beck.
