Interesting that he already knows were he wants to go though....... I'm guessing that he still wants to go to St. Johns, but was convinced to give Oregon a 2nd look. Hopefully Altman can change his mind!

Mybe he's having some doubt about StJ's. A visit out here for a big game can't hurt either.

Re: Amir Garrett makes a decision
My SJU friend still thinks Garrett is a commit to SJU. Someone else was able to confirm it for me as well.
The thing is, they are both basing their information off what Garrett said a week ago. Things can change. Maybe Oregon coaches are on full court press right now. Maybe they are selling immediate playing time. Maybe that's got his attention, so he's giving Oregon a chance?
It is possible that this is just a free trip to have fun as well. Hard to read this one, but it's a fact that he was a sju commit at least a week ago. And it's unlikely that has changed, but ya never know!

Would be nice to get Garrett but not getting him wouldn't be a big loss since Altman really seems to need another post player in the 2011 class.UOducksTK1 wrote:My SJU friend still thinks Garrett is a commit to SJU. Someone else was able to confirm it for me as well.

SF is a pretty big need though......greenyellow wrote:Would be nice to get Garrett but not getting him wouldn't be a big loss since Altman really seems to need another post player in the 2011 class.UOducksTK1 wrote:My SJU friend still thinks Garrett is a commit to SJU. Yeah, SF is a pretty big need, but I think that post players are a more pressing concern since Oregon doesn't have many players over 6'6" and you can get by with some smallish SFs in college BB.Boom wrote:SF is a pretty big need though......greenyellow wrote:Would be nice to get Garrett but not getting him wouldn't be a big loss since Altman really seems to need another post player in the 2011 class.UOducksTK1 wrote:My SJU friend still thinks Garrett is a commit to SJU. Re: Amir Garrett makes a decision
A SF in college bball is almost not needed. Most teams play a big man & a bunch of guards. Its just a bonus when u have a 6'6 - 6'7 guy who can play on the wing. If you don't have a big man its a much bigger need than a tweener wing/post player.
I would obviously love to have Garrett but I think Polle would be a bigger get. Either way, you can't really go wrong. Dana has blown away expectations.

DA's recruiting so far has left me impressed. For him to get some of the kids he's gotten with what has transpired over the last couple seasons, I would say he's going to be well-liked here.dthomas=ddixon wrote:A SF in college bball is almost not needed. Yes, as far as right now, he's an SJU silent commit. Unless something changes drastically during his visit to UO, he's all Johnnies right now.quackattack wrote:http://rivals.yahoo.com/oregon/basketba ... tjohns-141UOducksTK1 wrote:My SJU friend still thinks Garrett is a commit to SJU. Interesting news, Matt.
Altman hasn't coached a minute of game time at Oregon, and he is already impressing the heck out of me.
