Re: Duquesne @ Oregon
well wasn't oregon the only BCS conference school to make it in?......we have the most earning potential so makes sense we'd get all the home games

It is it what it is. Oregon has played two home games and has the two highest-grossing games in the tournament. It's not like that's an accident.

Oregon's fans are just wanting something good to happen for Altman and this team so they are showing up, even if it's a third tier tournament.oregontrack wrote:It is it what it is. Winning this game clinched at minimum a .500 record for the Ducks this season. If you would have said at the beginning of the year, that the Ducks would finish .500, people probably would've called you crazy. Sure it'd be better if the Ducks were playing in the NCAA tourney, or the NIT even, but this year has been really amazing to watch. Altman has really coached this team up and the effort they put forth is amazing. I am a junior at the UO, so in my 3 years as a student I've seen Oregon basketball suffer through a couple of really tough years, but this year has been the first one that I've really felt good about the direction of the team, so I don't think it's at all pathetic or anything like that to feel good about this team's CBI run.
I heard something interesting on the postgame show, that I hadn't heard before, which was that the more teams go from the CBI to the NCAA tourney the next year than from the NIT. That may be just due to mid majors winning their conference tourneys, but still interesting. Also, the team that won last year was VCU.
What's really important about this CBI run is what Altman is able to do next year though. If Oregon were to win the CBI and then takes a step back in the following seasons (like OSU has) that's when a CBI title becomes meaningless and nothing to get excited about.

"Huard's gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone. It is... INTERCEPTED! INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35! The 40! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! 20! THE 10! TOUCHDOWN!!! KENNY WHEATON, AN INTERCEPTION!!! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!"

That stretch in the first half where we were stealing the ball at will was fun to watch. Good win for us, every game gives us more experience.

Going to miss the Maehl Man

This is exactly what the CBI is, a building block. Altman and the team aren't viewing this as the highest possible accomplishment like OSU seems to have. This is just the start of getting the team back to the NCAA Tournament.OregonMAX wrote:What's really important about this CBI run is what Altman is able to do next year though. Heard an interesting statistic last night... A higher percentage of teams who participate in the CBI make the jump to the big Dance the next season, than teams that participate in the CIT or NIT.
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!
