Worth the watch to me, ATQ is changing their format from an article to a video so it’s much easier to track from my perspective.
QB11 and others basically predicted what Boise State would do, they didn’t come in THINKING they would win, but they came in HOPING. They needed Oregon mistakes for that hope to become a reality which it almost did, but in the end Oregon’s talent advantage and explosive passing offense was too much.
I do think Drew was trying to be like Will too much in the first half, he relied on gadget plays that failed (surprise, execution errors on gadget plays, not like we saw that all last season from Will), but at halftime Drew basically scrapped that and just threw it at Boise State and dared them to stop the ducks and like most pass defenses in this country, BSU didn’t stand a chance against this Oregon passing attack. The back shoulder throw to Jamari is proof, BSU safety made a good play, but it’s not enough against Oregon. I know he took criticism regarding that double pass, I understand the perspective of leave it in Dante’s hands, but it worked it just sucked McClellan slipped, but it also shows that Drew will use variations of the screen, he won’t just stubbornly throw it a bunch every game regardless if it works or not, so that will have to be in the back of the minds of Oregon’s upcoming opponents.
Also listened to some podcasts and from what I’m hearing, coming into the game the coaching staff was confident in Poncho at C (obviously), Addison at LT and Crader at RT, and understandably so as they all played great, but G’s there are questions. But Ferguson replaced Utu at LG in the second half and from what I’m hearing he looked great and was really happy after the game and celebrating with coaches, so the speculation is that he established himself as the starting LG. The RG is still in question as Bennet played the first half and didn’t look good and Iuli played most of the second half and also didn’t look good. The biggest question mark about the OL is Tofi, he was dressed but was hanging out with the walk ons and wasn’t even in consideration to play, he seemed fine, but there is speculation he had a minor injury that kept him out as a precaution for this game. Hopefully it is an injury and that he can come back strong and perhaps start at RG, cause sounds like at this point the OL is established outside of the RG position.
