Mathews looks pretty solid playing the point.

Nate seems to be very good at getting production out of his team when they are severely depleted from injuries. It seems like we go through this every year and every year they really seem to exceed expectations when you expect them to throw in the towel. My problem, well problems... are first off, that we have an absurd amount of knee injuries on this team. My other problem is that Nate can't seem to get this level of production when the team is healthy. When he doesn't have to decide who gets what minutes due to injuries, the team does great. But when he has to come up with some sort of a rotation and actually try to keep everyone happy, the team seems to be a disaster. Then again, I could just be remembering incorrectly...... it has been a LOOOOOOONG time since the entire team was healthy.TheMaehlMan wrote:I know some of you have probably lost faith in the Blazers, but it is hard to ignore how well this team has done this season amidst the turmoil. We are 25-20, Aldridge doesn't play like a puss anymore, Matthews is a stud, Batum is getting going again, and Rudy is remembering what it is like to be a good team-mate again. We aren't where we thought we would be a few years back, but I think Cho just may right the ship and get this team back on the up-swing. I'm not counting on Roy anymore, definitely not Oden, but we still have some other really good pieces.
Go Blazers
I don't know what Nate does to get his teams to buy in so well, but it is amazing. Part of the reason why he's able to get a lot out of these guys is because when healthy we have a very deep team, but still a major accomplishment due to the adversity. I also sometimes became dismayed with how he handled his rotations when we had all of our guys, but that may have just been because he has never had long enough to really figure out who plays together best due to injuries happening constantly. I really don't understand how we have had so many knee injuries though, it is very saddening and frustrating.karlhungis wrote:Nate seems to be very good at getting production out of his team when they are severely depleted from injuries. Wins are wins, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself either. I don't envision a deep playoff run occurring, but at least we look like a playoff team. Due to the unbalanced schedule we had to play a ton of road games and back-to-backs to start the season, now it is turning back in our favor with a stretch of home games thankfully. I just hope we can tread water and stay at around .500 till Camby gets back, we are seriously lacking depth in the front court.Phalanx wrote:I never stop being a fan, but I am also not carried away by winning a bunch of home games against the worst teams in the NBA. I think the record is probably at the peak right now for the season. If the blazers were a stock, I would take my profit tomorrow.
I agree wholeheartedly. I don't understand why it appears that Nate is out as coach after this season. In my opinion he's one of the best in the league.TheMaehlMan wrote:I don't know what Nate does to get his teams to buy in so well, but it is amazing. I don't want to get stuck in mediocrity either, but it's tough to just hit the reset button. Would you hold onto Aldridge? I know I sure would, he's becoming one of the better PF's in the league.bellsduck wrote:I agree wholeheartedly. I don't understand why it appears that Nate is out as coach after this season. But having said that, I wish this team would just start losing now and fall into the lottery. Finishing 7 or 8 in the league and going out in the 1st rd of the playoffs again is a good way to stay mediocre. We're in NBA purgatory right now with no way out. We need to sell our assets and start from scratch. About the only player I'd try to keep is Batum.
Before the start of this year I was 50-50 on him. But he's transformed a little bit this year, especially with Roy out. He's another guy I would actually keep unless someone wanted him so bad they'd give up 2 first rounders and a player. His problem is I don't see him as an elite PF in any category. He's not a great defender, not a great post-up player, not a great shooter, etc. He's a good all-around PF, adequate not great.TheMaehlMan wrote:I don't want to get stuck in mediocrity either, but it's tough to just hit the reset button.
