We will have to wait of course to see if the game goes national. Who knows? The much needed video board might help. Certainly fans are correct saying Oregon alone won’t draw that kind of attention. The fact The Bison are on the marquee is what tips the scale. But again, I believe you local fans are correct. With just another Oregon FCS game it wouldn’t get any attention at all, similar to your game with Montana.
The Bison are the draw for this one not the Ducks.

Re: NDSU/OREGON 2020
Losing Jabril Cox is similar to losing Phil Hansen the great Bison defensive end that graduated to the Buffalo Bills and 4 super bowl rings. (He will be on BISON 1600 calling this game from the luxurious press boxes at Autzen.) Losing Jabril will have an impact. That problem is being discussed now. Some adjustment has to be made to The GAM inputs to assure accuracy and reliability for the games prognostication.
Last season The Bison started a freshman QB Trey Lance after Easton Stick graduated to the Chargers. Sticks offensive contribution was replaced with an avg QB production developed from NCAA individual QB statistics. Not as easy with a LB.
The question: are yards added to the opponents production or is a straight bottom-line adj made against score? Bottom line adj is the simplist. Several monte Carlos are being re-run with yard adjustments just to see what results look like. Some subjective analysis will be necessary in either case.
The Ducks will be the best team The Bison have played since the National Champion Gophers back in the 20th Century. We will be back at our headquarters on the Northern Plains in a few short weeks. The discussed adjustment might come from that series of games. The Ducks are not national champions but it might serve as a guide.
Maybe even better would be using stats from Phil Hansen’s last season to the first year without him. A pro forma adjustment like that might be reasonable. The answers are always found in the Bison Lore.
Wouldn’t be surprised if our coaches are in contact with Ohio State. Maybe setting the Ducks up for the old 1-2. Nah

As far as trolls go you have seen yours. The guy offering the bet was trolling you. He won’t be back to accept your offer. I have found its best not to bet with casual fans. First of all getting paid is a real problem. Most football fans are poor sports to begin with. Biased and arrogant. Add anger and disappointment and I think you can see where things might deteriorate.
5-Dimes always pays with a smile, best wishes and an invitation to return. In business your best friends are the ones you buy with your trade. In addition 5Dimes puts up the juice. In this one juice will be your friend. In a game like this I wouldn’t expect anyone to accept a proposition without some advantage given to the underdog Bison.
Juice on this one for the straight up will reflect the attitude and expectations of the Duck fans, not the NDSU fans. Could the juice get to 40,000:1? Maybe, but 5:1 for sure.
I dont expect 40,000:1 on the spread bets or over/under. Instead of big adjustments to the juice they will attract action by adjusting the spread and over/under accordingly. But again, it’s always the juice.
Herd (he said Herd!) your head coach was talking all Bison at recent fund raisers. It’s a huge game for the Ducks. The entire season rides on it, maybe more.

No, I’ve never said straight up that we would win, but we most definitely won’t be blown out. Your bet straight up only proves that.GoDucksTroll wrote:Sooo you in? My conditions: money goes into an escrow account this week.

I’ll even sweeten the bet: $250 to the charity of your choice if the Ducks lose. Nothing extra from you if the Byezon lose.

Re: NDSU/OREGON 2020
Just to comment the purpose of my visits is to develop an accurate prognostication for this game by improving the quality of the inputs for The GAM, The Game Analyzer Mechanism. It will guide us all to correct conclusions about this game and how they can be used at sites like 5 Dimes.
To do that I bring news and commentary on the diverse NDSU athletic culture, traditions, teams and of course football. In return I’m learning a lot about the Oregon Ducks.
I assure the JBB personna appearing here is not intended to disrupt in any way. Subjects can get a little touchy though and people can be easily triggered. In fact there are several posts where JBB has been angry and outspoken. The next game is NDSU, I guess there is going to be a lot of Bison talk on the NDSU/Oregon thread.
In my opinion all comments are welcome here all the time. Because it’s football it might get high spirited but certainly should never get ugly or mean spirited. You guys poke with your sticks pretty well and it’s all part of the game.
The Bison are defending D1 FCS national football champions. The ticket market is hot. Lots of reservations are made and Eugene should be preparing for 10,000 guests. Oregon is by any definition a great team. Oregon fans want a blow-out. NDSU fans want a win. The handle should be big.
Game day loves the FCS at its best. The path to Eugene is well known to them. Fox Sports 1 saw the huge audience for the NDSU/Iowa game. The national press keeps the game in the news. It might unfold as another unknown opponent playing in Oregon so ho hum no TV no National audiance but I doubt it. this is a big game.

I'm obviously a Bison fan, so probably have some inherent bias, but I have to side with ATLBison in this thread. If an Oregon fan isn't willing to bet the spread, it certainly gives credence to the idea that it could be a close game. Maybe there was some misunderstanding on one side or another, but the way I see it, ATLBison's point is spot on.ATLBison wrote:No, I’ve never said straight up that we would win, but we most definitely won’t be blown out. Re: NDSU/OREGON 2020
good to see AltBison back. His point was well made and hes back. I thought he was in and out with that.
Obviously there has to be a spread or some tremendous odds on the straight up bet. The Oregon fans have nothing but confidence and a lot of facts to back up the position this game is a routine win. Are we supposed to think they are all full of it? I dont think so.
From what I have read it doesn't make any sense to say you wont bet the spread. That's a big no confidence vote. I would wait until the lines come out and we see the juice, but if you 2 are going to put some money in escrow bootfitters 11 might be good but 15 sounds better on even money. Cox is gone now. NDSU +15 looks fair. NDSU +45 might be more in line with some Oregon fans predictions.

thebootfitter and I made a small gentleman's bet, on straight up outcome. I'll take other ones as well. I'm not much of a gambler, for the record. And wagering on the spread is stupid to me, Cristobal's teams are grinders - this isn't Chip Kelly's scoring machine. Maybe if we didn't have Ohio State the next week, I'm thinking we're going conservative in week one and saving some of the fancy stuff for Ohio State. No sense in giving them extra film.JBB wrote:good to see AltBison back. His point was well made and hes back. I thought he was in and out with that.

One of my co-workers in Seattle bet me $20 straight up on the K-State game in 2013. He thought I was crazy for believing the Bison could win that one. He bet me again in 2014 on the Iowa State game, saying they got lucky against K-State, and was rubbing it in a bit when the Bison were down 14-0. I offered another $20 bet on the Iowa game in 2016. He wouldn't touch it, which worked out well for him. He just tells me to go away when I mention the Oregon game. Ha ha!GoDucksTroll wrote:thebootfitter and I made a small gentleman's bet, on straight up outcome. I'll take other ones as well. I'm not much of a gambler, for the record. So even if I lose this one, I guess I'm still ahead betting on the Bison. (For the record, I'm not much of a betting man either.)

It's interesting the NDSU perspective on games 6-7 years ago pertaining to today. 6-7 years ago Marcus Mariota and a top 3 Ducks team would have destroyed NDSU and put up 59 points on a Heisman winning QB in the Rose Bowl. None of those players will be playing for either team.

You're right. You may have hit on a key difference that defines the NDSU program. It may sound cheesy to an outsider, but the Bison are about far more than the individual players on the field at any given point in time. There is a culture that transcends the skills of any individual player. A legacy that is far more than clichéd lip service that the team is greater than the sum of its parts.lukeyrid13 wrote:It's interesting the NDSU perspective on games 6-7 years ago pertaining to today. 6-7 years ago Marcus Mariota and a top 3 Ducks team would have destroyed NDSU and put up 59 points on a Heisman winning QB in the Rose Bowl. I'm certain this post will be scoffed, and I'm okay with that. It's tough to understand from an outsider perspective.
The players who played in those games long ago won't be on the field, but they absolutely have an impact on how this game will go. They are legends in Bison lore, and the current generation of players will not let down the players who came before.
Believe it or not, that culture is a big part of what has made the NDSU Bison the winningest college football team of the past decade. It is a big part of why they can consistently punch above their weight class.
NDSU very well may fall short on the scoreboard, which would be a big bummer. It's happened before against far lesser teams than Oregon will field, for sure. There are no moral victories either. Even a strong showing against Oregon with fewer points on the board will be a loss, not a win. But you won't see the team give up.
Laugh at this post all you like. All I ask is that when the Bison punch the Ducks in the mouth harder than they expected... Maybe even give the Ducks a scare... Maybe even end the game with more points on the board... You don't chalk it up to a fluke. Remember this post and take a closer look at the toughest FCS program in history. It's a fun program to follow.

I was a fan of NDSU until these posts started. Nothing like turning away others than over confident trollish fans. This board has seen many fans from big non conference opponents and 9 times out of 10 everyone gets along swimmingly. When Bud came along he was confident LSU was going to win, his confidence didn't upset anyone and he's become a valuable member on this board, with many members rooting for LSU because of him. This board can be an echo chamber at times but has taken outsiders well, unfortunately it seems many NDSU trolls/fans are tone deaf . It's one thing to come in and say " I think my Bison could give the Ducks a run for their money and the game may be closer than many might think" , it's a completely different thing coming in and saying the defeat of Iowa in 1886 and how the men's basketball team prove anything. While many teams have these types of fans it's a shame for NDSU athletics to have some here as representatives of their fan base.

Re: NDSU/OREGON 2020
These are the replies that I’m consistently seeing. Just want to set the record straight on this whole “can’t compare past years” thing. There are three points here.lukeyrid13 wrote:It's interesting the NDSU perspective on games 6-7 years ago pertaining to today. 6-7 years ago Marcus Mariota and a top 3 Ducks team would have destroyed NDSU and put up 59 points on a Heisman winning QB in the Rose Bowl. 1. It’s a well-known fact amongst the Bison faithful that NDSU’s AD gets ignored and calls go unanswered from the majority of the FBS. While they don’t all fear the Bison, it is widely accepted it’s not “worth the risk.” So we only have so many FBS games we can reference because they won’t play us, but we keep winning these games when we’re consistently told we can’t or even come close. The last was 2016, so we can’t refer to our most recent FBS games because unlike 98% of the rest of the FCS, we can’t get these games any longer.
2. We can only beat the teams put in front of us. It just so happens that’s everyone, so you’ll forgive us if we don’t quake in our boots being we’ve won 6 straight against FBS and we’re basically 128-8 over the last 9 years with back-to-back undefeated seasons. We’re going into Autzen and 2020 with three goals. Avoiding Corona, setting the consecutive win streak in all of CFB held by the Sooners at 47, and winning another natty. It just so happens the Ducks are smack dab in the middle of the road and there won’t be but a couple of kids on the team that don’t have multiple championships. Hell, there are many kids that have never lost a college football game. Now, when we reference Iowa it really has nothing to do with a comparison of you and Iowa. It has to do with the exact same regurgitation we hear time and time again, that being “you’ve never played a team of our caliber/stature/size/stars.” That’s true, but NDSU players aren’t finished products/3-5 Star athletes. They are the framework for the Bison system that turns them into one of the most fundamentally sound units you’ve ever seen on the gridiron. It’s a system and the players know their roles precisely and execute at an extremely high level. So you see, we’re implementing the same system from the last decade. So the players, though not a moot point that there is separation, don’t provide as much weight to the debate as you’re giving them credit for. You aren’t Iowa, that’s too true, but Iowa wasn’t Iowa State, etc. It’s not egregious to believe NDSU could win this game, likely no, but why do Oregon fans get so bent out of shape when we know we will compete? Like we must bow or else we have a screw loose and know nothing about the sport because we don’t fear the “Mighty Ducks.” Do you think Clemson would be patronizing you to the extent your fans are about not having a chance in hell? I know all of college football and I can say with a dead straight face the separation between Oregon and Clemson is extremely close to the disparity between NDSU and UO. That’s not to say this won’t be the end of the line, but if you TRULY know the entire landscape of college football, there isn’t one serious pigskin mind that thinks Oregon will blow out NDSU, just ain’t gonna happen. That’s my entire point. And after that novella I will conclude with...

Seriously? You're letting one or two "bad" eggs spoil your perception of an entire program? When you admit that 9 out of 10 posters from other teams are fine? Implying that all teams have those one or two annoying posters? I guess that's your prerogative.FlDuckFan wrote: I was a fan of NDSU until these posts started.
