Re: Breaking News: Penn State Working On Joe Paterno's Exit
This thing just goes from disturbing to me thinking they should just line up half of the PSU donors and shoot them all. Pimping out young boys?! How the hell does this get covered up for so long?
And then there is the fact that the DA who investigated Sandusky in 1998, has been missing since 2005, and his body has yet to be found. Oh and they found his laptop, which had all of this info on it, in a river in 2005.
"On July 30, 2005, fishermen discovered Gricar's county-issued laptop computer in the Susquehanna River beneath a bridge between Lewisburg and Milton.[11] A Pennsylvania State Police computer expert analyzed the computer and found that its hard drive was missing.[11] Divers searched the area of the river near where the laptop was found over the next several days, but found nothing else.[11] Two months later, a hard drive was recovered on the banks of the Susquehanna River about 100 yards (91 m) from where the laptop was found and is believed to be Gricar's;[12] however, it was badly damaged and analysis by the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and the firm Kroll Ontrack – which had successfully recovered data from a hard drive recovered from the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster – were all unable to recover any data from the hard drive.[13] In April 2009 Bellefonte police revealed that before his disappearance, Gricar used his home computer to perform internet searches on topics such as "how to wreck a hard drive", "how to fry a hard drive", and "water damage to a notebook computer"."

If proven true it's completely nauseating.woundedknees wrote:Wow, Mark Madden broke this story back in freaking April!
http://www.timesonline.com/columnists/s ... f6878.html
"The Jerry Sandusky situation seems a matter of failure to connect certain dots, or perhaps unwillingness in that regard. Lots of people besides the former Penn State defensive coordinator have some explaining to do."
And yesterday, the same Madsen revealed new allegations that are even worse...
http://www.nesn.com/2011/11/jerry-sandu ... adden.html
"I can give you a rumor and I can give you something I think might happen," Madden told John Dennis and Gerry Callahan. "I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile Foundation -- and hold on to your stomachs, boys, this is gross, I will use the only language I can -- that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to rich donors. That was being investigated by two prominent columnists even as I speak."
"The other thing I think that may eventually become uncovered, and I talked about this in my original article back in April, is that I think they'll find out that Jerry Sandusky was told that he had to retire in exchange for a cover-up," Madden said. "If you look at the timeline, that makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
"My opinion is when Sandusky quit, everybody knew -- not just at Penn State," Madden added. "I think it was a very poorly kept secret about college football in general, and that is why he never coached in college football again and retired at the relatively young age of 55. [That's] young for a coach, certainly."
IF true, I hope Sandusky never sees another day of freedom.
Plea bargain, here we come.

McQueary as well. I don't care if you are "just" a Graduate Assistant, if I saw that(and any reasonable person imo), I'm yelling "WTF" and getting immediate attention to the situation. I most certainly would NOT go home, call my dad and wait until the next day to say something.briarduck wrote:The whole situation is gross, from the multiple incedents of abuse to the lack of responibility and now the nieeve support of JoePa (and other who knew and did nothing), im happy as he'll he got fired (hopefully more to come to JoePa) but shouldn't more firings be on the way? As far as I'm concerned the rest of the coaching staff that knew something should be gone too! Does it screw the current players, sure, but this situation I bigger than sports....and the coaches and school need tp pay the price for knowing and doing nothing!
BTW anyone on here concerning that a good man in JoePa is getting screwed, consider the fact that if he fires this guy years ago and makes the situation public (police and media) he's the hero and his legacy is saved and remains a legend! Don't feel sorry for him, he failed on the biggest stage, when it matted most!
Just disgusting all around.

OK... I have been obsessing with this and need to find a more positive topic.
I currently have 2 Grandchildren in therapy who are suspected victims, so this is hitting way too close to home.
I can't decide between castration or drawing and quartering... Neither are currently state sanctioned options.

Re: Breaking News: Penn State Working On Joe Paterno's Exit
He didn't do anything criminal so probably won't face any type of prosecution or charges. His only crime is not doing the right thing morally. His punishment now is being fired from his job and having to live with not doing enough to help the children that Sandusky molested. The anger should really be directed at Sandusky, but it seems like JoePa is getting the brunt of the criticism due to him being such the most well-known figure in the whole thing.briarduck wrote:The whole situation is gross, from the multiple incedents of abuse to the lack of responibility and now the nieeve support of JoePa (and other who knew and did nothing), im happy as he'll he got fired (hopefully more to come to JoePa) but shouldn't more firings be on the way? Oh most definetley...Sandusky's the moster here but I blame "anywho" who knew and did nothing. I didn't mean to focus so much on JoePa because as far as I'm concerned they are all to blame equally but he was the "god coach" and it should have stopped with him!greenyellow wrote:He didn't do anything criminal so probably won't face any type of prosecution or charges. Apparently, McQueary has been a "friend" of Sandusky since he was a young boy. So, maybe there is a little bit of history (molestation) there that would explain the strange choices he made. In my mind, that would explain why he went to his father first and brought his father with him when he reported the incident to JoPa.

I remember seeing this on TV, on one of those investigative news shows... my wife and I were both floored by the info. To tell you the truth I forgot about it soon after and didnt think about it again until this post. Sent a shiver up my spine...buckmarkduck wrote:This thing just goes from disturbing to me thinking they should just line up half of the PSU donors and shoot them all. Pimping out young boys?! That DA has probably had 100's of cases though so while very strange it's quite a leap to think that this in anyway involves the Penn State allegations.

Sandusky and his crimes are absolutely disgusting, but so are the people who enabled him.greenyellow wrote:He didn't do anything criminal so probably won't face any type of prosecution or charges. At the very least Joe Paterno will face civil charges... and I wouldn't rule out criminal charges just yet.

Re: Breaking News: Penn State Working On Joe Paterno's Exit
Civil charges are to be expected, but I don't think there is enough there to prosecute him criminally. Plus, to prosecute an 84 year old man for another man's crime would not give justice to the victims. Putting Sandusky away is going to do far more than putting Joe Pa away also.Boom wrote:Sandusky and his crimes are absolutely disgusting, but so are the people who enabled him.greenyellow wrote:He didn't do anything criminal so probably won't face any type of prosecution or charges. How would you know? The U.S. Department of Education and the State of Pennsylvania are investigating. The grand jury indictment is just the beginning...
Wrong on so many levels... This institution allowed Sardusky to commit these crimes for 10+ years. They share the blame for anyone victimized by Sardusky during that time period.greenyellow wrote:Plus, to prosecute an 84 year old man for another man's crime would not give justice to the victims. If you haven't already read the entire grand jury report... then I suggest you do.

Re: Breaking News: Penn State Working On Joe Paterno's Exit
I've heard enough of what's in the report to make a solid judgement on Paterno role. Unless he was actively telling people to hide it or was in on covering it up, then he doesn't deserve to spend possibly the last couple years of his life in jail. To me, he is paying enough for not reporting the crimes by losing his job and having his reputation tarnished. When charges like this come out, it's normal for people to want to throw everyone involved in jail, no matter how small a part they played in the whole thing. But if they let things settle a bit and use a more rational thought process, not everyone deserves jail time.

Well, he just hired a prominent criminal defense lawyer... I think it's pretty unlikely that Paterno or anyone high up in that athletic department didn't have a role in the cover up.greenyellow wrote:I've heard enough of what's in the report to make a solid judgement on Paterno role.
