I wanted him to advance to the finals so bad. That is greatness there my friend. What he had to overcome to make it to the Olympics is unbelievable and inspiring.

Many of us who once ran that particular race in our youth, would have been ecstatic with Pistoirias' time.

Impressive young man. I was also pleased to see Kirani James, the favorite for gold at this point, exchange name bibs with him at the end of the race... A sign of the respect other athletes hold for Pistorias.

Matt Centrowitz edged out .04 seconds for the bronze medal. So close to adding another medal for former Ducks.

Ashton is killing it. Seems like an absolutely good guy too.

Patty Mills 24 I believe vs U.S., also had 39 which might be a new single game olympic record. He also had a game winning three, great run for Patty, I loved him when he was with the blazers.

Looks like Ashton did bad in his second event today 22nd? After getting second in the first event, looks like he needs three top finishes to get the gold!

I read something the other day (oregonian iirc) that said that if the Pac 12 were a nation, it would be 5th in medal standings.

Ashton leading after 9 events, with only the 1500m left. The 1500m is always the most challenging event since it comes at the end of a long 2 days and the longest of all the running events.

I wonder if he will be able to repeat? Only one guy has ever repeated in the decathlon, so it would be a pretty sweet for an Oregon kid to be the first American to win it twice.
