I think this might end the Shaw/Nunes suck comments for a while.

Let's just call it for what it really is: Stanford is a good team and the P12 has more than just the Ducks and the Trojans.

Agree 100%, if you dont pressure Barkley, Woods and Lee would have a hay day against any team in the Nation. Pressure Barkley and they are very beatable!

Exactly. Stanford brought guys down to shoot the gaps right at the line and USC's line couldn't handle the pressure and Barkley looked uncomfortable all night long. I just got a whole lot more excited about this season.

I think they missed Holmes at C more than some thought. The snaps were off, Hobbi was getting shoved backwards a lot, and it looks like he may have been missing some of the line shifts.

The kid missed his TE wide open multiple times, Nunes isn't a great Qb by any stretch. But he did do just enough to win, despite his kicker sucking.

Still think that USC beats Oregon and Oregon beats Stanford.

USC's offensive line was pathetic. Barkley was constantly under pressure, yet Kiffin didn't make any adjustments. Have no idea why Kiffin called for a run on 2nd down on USC's last drive.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

He made plays when it mattered. Sure he had some bad throws, but SC's D isn't TTU and what young qb doesn't want some throws back? I understand its not a great stat line but he made the throws in the 4th quarter and that matters.

Stanford just showed the best way to beat USC. Smash them in the
teeth. Pressure Barkley and he makes poor decisions. If you give him
time to stand in the pocket he will make you pay. But make him hurry
and he's not so comfy back there...

He is a senior to be fair. He did play much better in the 2nd half than the 1st, but clearly QB is not going to be a strong point for them this year.

Nunes is a redshirt junior. He is only a senior academically, not football eligibility wise.

My mistake, was going off of his gostanford.com profile. Still fact remains he isn't a young QB and I would say he did just enough to keep them from losing rather than he did enough to get them the win. Game ball goes to the D and the running game and that is going to be Stanford's MO this year. If Nunes can pick it up a little bit and at least be consistent Stanford is going to be a force. Their D looked top notch tonight.

Missed the game, but thrilled at the outcome! Indeed, now two highly ranked teams in our conference (and more coming?) I see Stanford also really dominated statistically, and could really run the ball on SC. I agree that SC's title hopes aren't done yet, but this game certainly does nothing to harm my suspicion that SC is overrated.

Hurts a bit that ASU wasn't able to upend Mizzou, but with Cal playing as well as they did, and if Utah can hang on, it looks like there are really only two pretty bad teams in our 12-team league.

Was at work, so i didn't get a chance to watch the game? I'm assuming the O-line looked like gutter trash (based on the box score). I have a question for those who watched. Did Stanford really look good and beat USC, did USC self implode, or a mixture of both?

Stanford looked better than expected. USC O-Line had a terrible game, there were people getting into the backfield nearly every play. Barkley had a tough time dealing with the pressure and couldn't get comfortable which is understandable. USC run game couldn't get going either due to the O-line. Stanford D looked great though and were definitely well prepared and flying around out there. Stanford QB looked pretty terrible in the first half but played better in the 2nd half.

Stanford was really running consistently like they always do getting those 3-4 yard gains and staying out of long yardage situations. I would say the USC D played a pretty solid game overall but they just couldn't overcome the shortcomings of the O-Line.

Mixture of both. The fumbles hurt but Stanford has a talented front 7 that feasted on an overwhelmed Hobbi/OL. I thought going into the game that it was more likely that USC would "lose" the game than Stanford would "win" it but imo Stanford "won" it. Defensively, depth was an issue as it allowed the Stanford OL to get into a rhythm and Stanford made plays at the end.
