If you guys want to know more about Piedmont High football (Produced Drew Olsen, Tonio Celloto, and now Keaton Arden over the past few years), check out http://www.piedmontfootball.com

Piedmont invented the A-11 offense.

I could see CK implementing similar packages in the future. Especially with the amount of duel-threat QB's we have.

6'5" wr, maybe a Jaison Williams with hands. Why are so many people disgusted that we offered this kid? Did they scout him out and think he belongs at Sac State? Obviously Chip and Belotti think otherwise. I'm gonna have to go with Chip and Belotti on this, no offense, but it seems to me they have been doing this awhile and probably know better than we do where we are headed.

I getting a pretty good kick out of most of you...Why did we offer this kid? He's not even rated, and the sky is falling!

If our coaching staff offered him than you'd have to guess he's pretty good! Not rated highly (no other offers) sounds like few highly regarded current and ex-Ducks to me, diamond in the rough maybe. The sky is falling, as in no WR are coming to The O...come on guys our recruiting class is falling together and we will do real well...(other then DT...ugh!)

Relax and enjoy the rest of our recruiting but I don't see this guy as a WR for us though maybe a DE or TE?

Even if he does end up doing well, it's a strange offer. I'm sure there were plenty of better players out there. Just because he is an Oregon recruit, we don't have to think he was great. And we already have about a dozen tight ends, so forget that.

LOL at you guys! He was recruited to play DE and had 75 tackles 17 sacks last year, not bad BTW given the level of HS talent in the Bay area. At 6'5 220 he seems to remind me of another "so what" recruit a few years back who was also a lanky HS DE from Anacortes WA.
Oh and BTW for those who are all into the whole stars equal wins, if you look at Oregon recruiting for '02 over half the recruits were 1* according to scout and allot of those kids are the same kids that were key in the 05 10-2 season.

Nice find. At least he has an offer from BSU. I bet we're looking at him for DT. That's the only thing that makes any sense at all.
You mean DE not DT, right??? Didn't you guys read the key line about a possible gret shirt? I think he's a lock as a GS. So, just look at him as a 2010 commit, which in essence is what he will be if he does in fact GS.

The coaches aren't infallible. A reason for an offer could very well be because they FAILED in recruiting better players at the position. Last year we withdrew our offer for 4 star S Vaughn Telemaque because we didn't have room. Telemaque was widely regarded as the best S in California and his offers proved it. Oregon made a huge blunder considering the resulting death of Todd Doxey. Now, we are offering a lightly recruited fallback option similar to John Laidet and Brandon Bair. Laidet and Bair are both players who have taken years to develop without offering much for quality playing time and their future contributions still hang in the balance. Telemaque played as a freshman for Miami but ended up redshirting due to an injury suffered while playing, but he was set to play early. I will stand by the assertion that offering a 4-5 year project which is what Arden appears to be, while not offering an instant contributor such as Telemaque, is tantamount to foolishness.

I am not the type to kowtow to every single decision the coaching staff makes but I'll admit that I have neither the experience or knowledge in judging football talent that the UO coaches do. I do, however; find it troubling that we offer projects one year, while turning down blue chippers another. And I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the coaches did make a mistake.

I also realize that Telemaque wasn't a defensive end, but who is to say that we don't offer a blue chip DE next year because we had already signed Keaton Arden this year? That was really the point I was trying to make. More in the line of wasting scholarships. That all said, good luck to Keaton. I hope he can add the requisite weight to be a contributor in less than four years.

Not sure about your Laidet comparison...he played 8 man football in southern Oregon and was a signing day suprise. More like Michael Speed was. Neither had other offers. I think Laidet may be at Montana St. now. Bair originally signed and went on a Mormon mission. He did have offers and signed again when he returned. He played last season. Did you expect him to start over Nick Reed? This Arden kid played in a very competative league and was offered by Boise St. along with Oregon. If he does grey shirt, and it sounds like he will, he will come in with the 2010 class. Nothing wrong with that...IMOP.

Scout has him listed as a commit. This smacks of desperation to me.

Was my post directed at you...or guilty conscience maybe!

I guess I should start by saying settle down! The coaches offer scholarships to recruits they feel can help the team, fall back guys are not offered schoolies unless other players the coaches were after fell thru. So either a player the coaches were after fell thru or the COACHES REALLY WANTED THIS GUY!!

As far as past years a players we did not get for whatever reason, dude let it go its the past! If you didn't lie the past coaching decisions don't worry a new staff is on its way. As far as Telemaque goes I wanted him as well but he choose UM over us so the coaches went in another direction and it doesn't matter I really like the safeties we have and I'm not worried what could have been!

With that said I understand some like to blame others when things don't go as they like I tend to roll with it and move on...

This recruiting class at the end of the day will be great...I know it!
