Calvin Carroll, one of Cristobal's recent follows, has gotten a preferred walk-on offer from Oregon: Another PWO offer has been offered and accepted by Scappoose WR Tevin Jeannis:

Would be a good get, as he would fit nicely into Mondeaux's spot.

He being recruited to play or coach? I haven’t aged well and he looks older than me.

I could see Baldonado being a good DE development candidate, or even a reasonable TE candidate if we don't secure other pledges.

I've had contact with Carroll since his freshman year, he asked me to make him some edits back then. He was interested in Oregon. Carroll was actually very acclaimed as a HS underclassman and looked like a future P-5 scholarship player, with interest from some big time programs. I don't know what happened, I think part of it is he hasn't grown since then. If we can get him as a PWO that would be a win.

Based on the amount of low-rated WRs they're checking out, seems they're trying to find as many backup plans as possible, hoping that someone is a major diamond in the rough.

They’re not all backup plans, Cristobal and the staff are moving away from looking at stars alone and towards actual talent evaluations. They’re still going to go after highly rated guys, but they are open to looking at any player as opposed to just high rated guys. Willie was all about the stars by the sounds of it, regardless of what the film and scouting reports turned up. That’s why the Diallo decommit wasn’t a big deal, the guys that weren’t the HC aka Cristobal and Leavitt didn’t really like him.

Your post doesn't make sense. Diallo was a 3star. In no way does his decommit back up your justification.
We replaced Diallo with two lesser rated players at the same position who we were targetting recently. Diallo wasn't a big deal because while he's more touted than the other two DL we signed today, he's not necessarily wanted more by the coaches who weren't Willie Taggart. Diallo was a 3-star player but also a JUCO which are rated differently in comparison to prep school players.
These are the mental gymnastics I've been seeing over at jhops site

Jhop is even using a new term, panic offer, to distinguish from backup offers.

These wr offers are backup plans.

His two most recent follows are Darren Jones, a 2019 6'8" WR from Cajon HS who is teammates with recent 2019 Duck QB offer Jayden Daniels, and Erik Skopil, writer for Duck Territory. He's also followed Tyler Shough and Sione Vea Kava in recent days.

Following a lot of TAMU commits/former commits. I wonder if we're really getting their former RB coach.

According to 247Sports, O'Neal's lead recruiter was Jeff Banks, A&M's recruiting coordinator and TE/ST coach, but Rivals is showing ex-TAMU RB coach McKinney was also key in his recruitment..
