If the reports are true, is sounds like family members played up how bad his situation was at UW and kinda forced him to leave so he could join Bama.

If Tosh and Slick willie ever got together, they'd make a lethal recruiting team. Haha

Adam Jude also mentioned there may have been qualifications issues getting into UW.

I mean, I don’t care because it’s UW but this whole situation is shady. This kid and his family played UW so bad. Again, it’s funny and enjoyable because it’s UW getting the short end of the stick but still sketchy all around. Pretty weak of UW to start lobbing out ‘admission issues’ rumors as an excuse for a kid not wanting to play for their bumass program but what else would you expect from them?

He needed one class to be fully qualified, which he completed over the summer. Washington's mistake was having the kid move to Seattle before he could be admitted. With no college classes and no summer workouts he probably got bored and homesick. That allowed his mom, who preferred USC, and his father, who favored 'Bama, to convince him UW was the wrong choice. Being away from home with nothing to do is a bad option. I'm pretty sure that is why Sione Vea Kava didn't arrive in Eugene until the start of fall practice

Which is the beat writer's version of "we didn't want him anyway".

I have more disdain for UW's football program than most (more than anyone else that I personally know), but calling it a "bumass program" when they have owned us and pretty much everyone in the PAC the past few years is silly. Kaho may have ultimately chosen a different program than UW, but it isn't because it is currently a "bumass program." UW lost him because of his mom and/or dad. Or they lost him due to shady dealings with Tupoi. Or perhaps, both. There might even be other reasons, but none of them have to do with the current state of their program.

The rumor comes from Ruth Robbins, so it's probably not true and has been wrung through her delusional mind. But supposedly Kaho's father Hopate is getting divorced from Mrs. Kaho and is broke. Ruth says he was hitting up the parents of other UW recruits and players asking them for money. It's implied that Tosh Lupoi, who stayed in contact with the dad, helped facilitate some financial help. Kind of like how Marlon T's brother got a job with help from USC, or Tua's dad got a job in Tuscaloosa.

This was just a more public and obvious case of seeing the recruiting sausage being made. Kind of interesting that all three cases are involving Poly recruits. Probably just a coincidence, it's not like people need extra incentive to go to Bama or USC. The NCAA won't investigate Bama like they did in the 90s, but all this stuff is super shady. It happened to UW, but it still upsets me. We're moving towards free agency and soon recruits are just going to sign financial aid papers instead of NLIs.

I agree that it seems shady, etc. Duck fans who despise the UW football program just get to not feel too bad about it.

And I'll just add for the record that UW has been very good the past two years, with one Pac-12 championship with a CFP appearance two seasons ago and a New Years' bowl game last year. Just two, even if it seems longer because it's such an awful state of affairs for Duck fans.

strip away our green and yellow glasses and our intense dislike of all things uw. It seems like something went on here and taken at face value does not look above board. Anything that comes from Ruthie or Dawg Pound has been revamped to fit their narrative and in this case it's the 'admissions issues' thing and the kid's fault for not having his academics in order. I am sure there is way more here than meets the eye and maybe some of it is not above board but the reality is that we will likely never know. The Dawg fans are going to bend this as they see fit and of course will continue their narrative that CP is the Lord and Savior since he let this kid move on. In some ways it looks a bit like CP got played by this kid but again we will never know and I would be surprised if the NCAA looked into it unless there something really egregious comes out.

My personal opinion, something here smells funny.

Adam Jude, the beat writer covering UW football for the Seattle Times, is now saying that he feels Kaho's family wasn't being completely honest with him when telling the actual reasons for Kaho's departure.

Whether Kaho passed the class/had enrollment issues we won't likely ever know.

I think it's pretty obvious though that Kaho and Bama had contact before his release and that it was already in place before he officially left UW. Good get for Bama, but they seem to play things pretty risky with additions like this, and then the reddit post showing 20+ players with brand new cars with most valued at 50k+.

This one is a bit of a grey area so nothing will come down from this but it's fishy at minimum.

I still stand by my comment. Bumass team from a bumass city with bumass fans and an amazing coach.
