I have been reading all the posts on this subject and quite honestly I agree with those who look at this class and am worried which direction things are going. I have been following the recruiting for bout 5 years and have been hearing well next year this... well next year thiss... well next year.. it is always next year and not this year. As for the recruits that have said will sign. Signing day for 2010 if not mistaken is a year away. If these kids are as good as are saying they are will be a whole lot of big time schools coming after them. Given recent history always being enxt year.. will believe these kids sign when LOI day comes for 2010 until then I will be waiting to see what happens. How many more recruits that are suppose to sign with us that end up signing with somebody else. It makes me wonder.I said a few weeks ago I will wait and see what happens. Phillipps was suppose to sign and will not. Wheaton was suppose to sign and will not. Is Diante next.

Anybody have any word on the three star talent we're trying to pluck out of Texas? I am crossing my fingers for some surprise news about a pending visit to help ease our pain.

So now all of a sudden rankings do matter? I've been told many times that the rankings are just a number Many posters are going all gaga over Brian Jackson who is ranked like 75th, Burell that isn't ranked highly and Arden that isn't even ranked. Some of us get excited about Wheaton and all of a sudden it isn't a big deal?

'SC offered this kid. I don't know if there is better proof that he has talent.

Losing Wheaton is only a big deal because of who his cousin is, and the fact that he chose Oregon State. If he came out and chose UCLA after his visit this would not be as big of a deal is it.

Nothing fires me up more than those idiots coming at us. That was the main reason I had to get away from O-live. They don't make a bit of sense most of the time and are just trying to get a rise.

Losing Wheaton is a big deal for a number of reasons:

1. good sources say he was resdy to commit to us before the Pflu news leaked out - extremely poor timing by Mike & Chip
2. to say well get Hall or Gaines to somehow make up for it is just deflecting. Furthemore, we don't lead for either of those 2 players and neither are likely coming here
3. Losing him to OSU is just frosting on the cake

Bottom line is good sources say the staff is in scramble mode, esp at WR. Chip Kelly wouldn't be running all over Texas and other places if we weren't in serious trouble at that position.

As for Tajh Boyd: I was extremely bullish on this kid as early as this morning. Problem is buying too much of what Baron Flenory says. He's a good Scout reporter, but he's a big fan of CK and a lot of what he's been saying about us leading (75%), etc. is now being countered by direct quotes from both Tajh and his dad. He could still end up in Eugene, but remember the Boyds can't make up their minds. TB has now committed to 3 schools: West Virginia, Tennessee and Oregon (if Baron is right in saying he was a silent last week). The distance thing will rule us out.

I don't see why Pflugrad makes that much of a difference for these recruits. Last time I checked, our wide receivers have significantly underachieved the last few years. I've been in favor of Kelly taking over right away, so I guess I might have to live with this being a "rebuilding year" as far as recruiting goes. I'm sure things will pick up when things are in place in the future.

Not to mention that we can replenish this class with some JUCO guys down the road. Oh, wait, nix that idea because we're the Harvard of the Pac-10.

I donno...It bothers me some that we lost him talent wise as I always felt he was gonna end up here...but the biggest deal to me is the fact it's a Wheaton...I mean really...He's related to the player that pretty well changed this program...and he's gonna be playing for the beavers...any chance he switches to us if we decide on a WR coach??

don't forget Philly's backup.....A.J. Feely. We have 4 QB's in the NFL and Fife was there for a bit as well

Can anyone summarize the DSA Boyd article that's now up that started all this crazy talk?
