Coaches nowadays are always looking out for themselves in the future and won't ever stop considering all job opportunities. Coaches like Coach K and Olsen have a sense of loyalty that have or will preclude them from taking other jobs.woundedknees wrote:Not saying I would expect to see either of those guys stay that long... (Turgeon might, with his previous experience here.).
I always thought guys like Lute Olsen, Coach K, and others were rather unique in sticking with their respective programs, even with their levels of success.

Just in case people haven't seen his profile.
Mops is reporting his interest in Oregon as well. If and when Pitt loses in the tourny, I hope Phil Knight and Belloti are all over this.

Someone reported that his contract is almost up at Pitt and he could be using us as leverage for an extension.duckgrad99 wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Dixon

Not uncommon at all for coaches to do this.

Re: Kent's Replacement
Contract is up after the 2012-2013 season so he could be using this to gain leverage in negotiations. I think Turgeon may be more likely to come if that is the case with Dixon.Boom wrote:Someone reported that his contract is almost up at Pitt and he could be using us as leverage for an extension.duckgrad99 wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Dixon

Per Mops twitter:
Oregon C Mike Dunigan, G Matt Humphrey, F EJ Singler, and F Teondre Williams all say they will be back at Oregon no matter who coaches.
Makes me wonder about someone like Jamil Wilson. You also have to wonder about Armstead and Jacob.

Jacob really has not choice since he's already used a RS for an injury and would lose another year if he transferred.duckgrad99 wrote:Per Mops twitter:

I'm still worried about Wilson. If we can keep those 4 and Wilson, that's good talent for any real coach to start out with.duckgrad99 wrote:Per Mops twitter:

1. Dixon
2. Few
3. Turgeon
All would be an upgrade from Kent and worth every penny.

Interesting that he could be the top choice right now. Would be a tremendous hire for sure.

Re: Kent's Replacement
Between Dixon and Turgeon, I feel that Turgeon would be the most likely one because of his history with Oregon. Dixon's only real connection is he's from the West Coast.UOducksTK1 wrote:Amen. Re: Kent's Replacement
It is interesting that there is rumors of quite a few really good coaches that may be interested in the job. There were a few fans on this board talking about how stupid it would be to get rid of Kent because there is nobody out there that the Ducks could get that would be a step up. Dixon or Turgeon would be a huge step up in my opinion, both in coaching and in recruiting. I am excited for the new Ducks coach whether it is Dixon, Turgeon or someone else I think Bellotti and the school will be able to get someone really good!

Re: Kent's Replacement
I have a feeling Oregon will have a "home run" hire. Look at what we have done with getting other coaches here like Horton for baseball. A new arena, nike connection, a conference like the pac-10 will all help.
