This team is in full on rebuilding mode. If we can get 2 first rounders and a 2nd rounder over the next 3 years then do it. Obviously the guy is not happy in Portland. He wants to play a role more like he does for his French national team. If we do this then we desperately need to get Claver and maybe Freeland also over from Europe because as a previous poster said, there's not a lot of SF's on the market now.

Apparently you can't do a sign and trade with a player who you matched.

Yes, but the Blazers can't match until Batum signs the offer sheet next week.
So, a sign and trade is still an option.

Except the Blazers haven't liked what Minnesota has been offering (Martell Webster and Derrick Williams). If they throw in a first-rounder or maybe even Luke Ridnour, then I'd like that kind of trade.

I'm not saying it's good or bad, just viable.

It's viable but does nothing to improve Portland.

Think Portland just need to go with current roster now with resigning Batum and wait till next season free agent, more big names for blazers to offer.

If Portland gets Hibbert, then Batum is coming back. If no Hibbert, then I could easily see Portland letting Batum go and then starting a full rebuild, possibly even trading Aldridge to get draft picks and better draft position.

The question was whether it could be done. I answered it can be done.
Your opinion as to it not helping Portland is irrelevant. It all depends on what Olshey is looking to do long term.
Additionally, a sign and trade could be done many ways that could easily benefit Portland. It doesn't cut the mustard to say it's bad for Portland when all you have is some musings of internet fodder. The deal, if offered is not public. We don't know what may or may not be part of said theoretical deal.

Two names I'd like the blazers to go after, Arron Brooks and Elton Brand.

I'd say the internet musings are fairly accurate since they are coming from Jason Quick at the Oregonian, a writer for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, David Aldridge, and Sam Amick from SI.com.

I wouldn't mind Brooks or Brand either, but there's rumors of Elton going to Indiana which might help blazers get Hibbert.

Ray Allen signs with Miami, I'm sooo EXCITED as Ray has been one of my favorite players since I can remember watching the NBA and Lebron is my favorite player now in the NBA!!!!! Now they need to get Camby, he's meeting with them tommorrow and maybe Rashard Lewis too.
