Punishment way too harsh! Reasons:

1. Provoked by the boise guy, clearly, without that the incident doesn't occur.

2. Blount over-reacted, something people often do when in situations of desperation and anxiety, the game itself is violent, prompting a violent reaction.

3. He WON'T ever do it again, now that this happened. He should start the second half of Purdue, FK Boise and their provoking, classless, cheap shot garbage stuff they did both last year and this year.

4. Game was on a thursday, the media went banana's, we kind of had to "end his season" to get the media to drop it and let it be forgotten quickly since his career has been pronounced over, there isn't much else to say in the news.

5. I doubt we follow through with it for the whole season, it will blow over in a week or two and we creativly find a way to justify lifting his suspension. After all, some punishment is fine, ending season is wayyy off.

That would make our program look TERRIBLE. We have to stick with this or we will become the new Miami.

I keep asking if anyone has information about what the BS player said. I heard from sources that he said, "How's your aunt." That refers to the lady who died several weeks ago before LGB could arrive to say Goodbye. She was a major player in his life.

It does not make his behavior any better but at least give us the other side.

Colin Cowherd said he got an e-mail from the dude's brother that he said , "How about that a$$-whoopin," (or something like that). Colin said that reading lips, it certainly looks like that's what was said.

That's not very fair considering he was already being tackled when he got handed the ball on basically every play. I agree he did look very slow out there but he never had a chance to even get running.

Not exactly an unbiased source. And doesn't Hout have his back to the ESPN camera? If so how did Cowherd read his lips?

It definitely looks like that is what he says just from reading lips. In fact, he's saying "whoooooooooooopiiiiiiiiiin" in slow motion as Blount's fist is already on it's way.

I don't think the content of Hout's taunt matters that much. He saw Blount in a vulnerable position and wanted to sneak a last kick in so he could laugh about it in the locker room with his buddies. Blount should have been the bigger man and walked away. But, Hout deserved what he got.

The Boise player deserved it, unfortunately for Blount and the Oregon program it was caught by television camera's. Almost everyone I have spoken with and from what I have been reading on blogs and have seen on television most everybody around the country feels the same way. Even the fans would have deserved to have been knocked out by Blount because they were making racial comments. How do I know this? I was at the game and was sitting not far behind the fans that were taunting Blount and making comments. People say a player should never go after a fan, well I don't care if you are a fan, player, whatever when you make stupid, racial comments you deserve an ass whoopin'!

I disagree with the last part of your statement..This IS NOT just about LB..Depending on what Hout actually said is paramount as to whether or not he should be suspended or for that matter told to leave the team..If in fact he said something to LB about his aunt..He should be booted for the year...If he made a racial comment,....He should be booted for the year...If he was just talkin smack..considering that he made first contact and obviously said something inflammatory, he should be suspended for a game or two....

And the fact that Coach Peterson was right there, he knows exactly what was said and what was happening....
Hell, he was in Houts face and appeared to be either restraining or reprimanding him b4 any contact actually took place...

That, in my opinion, makes what Hout actually said...VERY IMPORTANT...and Coach Peterson should step up and so advise the world....It seems strange that there hasnt been any comments on Coach P's part....They seem to want to handle this internally and try to sweep it under the rug....Above Board? It sure doesnt seem that way....

I am an alumnus along with my mother and brother; my family has a long association with
the U of O. I love the U of O as much as many of you do and am equally disturbed by
Thursday night's events.

But I'm more disturbed by the team's apparent lack of preparation by the coaches and the
coaches' performances during the game, starting with Chip Kelly, than with LeGarrette
Blount's actions after the game. That is not to say LGB's actions are acceptable in any way;
certainly a just punishment should have been administered.

But imo, CK's quick and egregious sentencing of LGB smacks of an attempt to take the heat
off of a completely inept performance by himself in his first try at head-coaching.

Immediately, an INDEFINITE suspension should have been stated for LGB because of his actions,
but as mfrduckfan implies, CK should have taken a brief cooling-off period (and MB and
the new president as well ?), THEN set the length of suspension.
As is, CK appears to have reacted emotionally, which is exactly what LGB did.

To me, the performance in the game by the coaches and team is what was humiliating.
But, by banishing LGB for the rest of the season, CK comes out a hero to many in the media,
fans, and pompous alumni who threaten to 'stop writing checks'...
What those alumni and many posters here are ignoring, or maybe trying to make themselves
feel better about, is the fact that the team was punked by the same wac team, AGAIN, within 1 year !
So now, after a second beat-down by bsu, is it really fair to take your frustration
out on LGB ?

I have a very hard time denying LGB's or anyone's lifetime dream and livelyhood, but
apparently some people don't. In this country there are many, many examples of people
getting a second chance, why not let Blount have another chance ?
(Or if he already had 2 strikes against him, why hasn't CK stated that ?)
But, really, end the guy's career ? For a single stupid emotional reaction ?
I say he should have been suspended for a period, get him into anger management training,
and some public service, then if he progresses, give him another chance later in the season.
After all, the bsu player who provoked LGB wasn't hurt; was there really a crime done ?
Sure, LGB was a fool, but who was really hurt, other than himself ?

After this spring and fall in which CK had PLENTY of time to prepare the team, and there
was considerable talk of how good the team looked to CK, how fast the practices were, the flash
of new uniforms, new web sites, etc. etc..last Thursday I was humiliated by his and the team's
performance; the moron alumnni/fans who are threatening to pull your money or are condemning
one player should be looking at the program...we have all the flash of billboards, uniforms,
publicity, facilities...and still the team was outplayed and out-coached Thursday against a wac
team when there was ample time to get ready.

THAT is what fans and alumni should be threatening to close their checkbooks about, NOT what this
one individual did.
LGB was representing and embarrassed himself only, NOT the U of O, despite what ESPN or Canzano says.
The coaches and the team, on the other hand, represent the U of O more than does one individual.
They were the ones who failed, and along with CK and his knee-jerk reaction, humiliated us all.

Yes, it's called assault and Blount is lucky that BSU didn't press charges or he may have had to spend the night in a Boise jail with a bunch of drunk, angry Bronco fans.
