4* JC OT Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu is Oregon's 13th commit for the 2019 class:

Re: 2019 Oregon Commit List
Coaches, recruits, and Nemec are all hinting at another commit coming soon, with Nemec saying he talked to said recruit and it being later today.

Re: 2019 Oregon Commit List
Oregon is now up to #6 on 247 Sports' team rankings and #5 on Rivals' team rankings. Based purely on 247 Sports' star average, Oregon has roughly the 7th or 8th best class.

Re: 2019 Oregon Commit List
It's going to be interesting to see how things develop between now and February. 247 also has UW's 2019 class currently ranked #31, USC at #52, and UCLA #87 (https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Footb ... mRankings/). I figure the rankings will change significantly over the coming months, but some of the Pac-12 big boys have a lot of ground to make up to challenge Oregon.greenyellow wrote:Oregon is now up to #6 on 247 Sports' team rankings and #5 on Rivals' team rankings. Re: 2019 Oregon Commit List
I read some USC guys saying that they believe they can swoop in and poach the Mater Dei guys (specifically Funa, Criddell, and Dollars) whenever they want, so they are not worried. I imagine that is true, given very recent and painful history.
Do we still have the early signing period? If so, that might give us an idea about those guys and their actual commitment level.

JR Waters is so underrated...
All these recruits are nice, but we've got a season/off season coaching changes, etc. all still to go. We must back it up with our play.

Yes, December. Long way off. USC isn't magically going to swoop in and get these kids unless Oregon screws it up.Phalanx wrote:I read some USC guys saying that they believe they can swoop in and poach the Mater Dei guys (specifically Funa, Criddell, and Dollars) whenever they want, so they are not worried. I hope you're right, of course, but it wouldn't be 'magic' if they did. It seems to happen fairly regularly that Oregon loses recruits because in the end the big school where they are from offered. Texas and USC come to mind.GrantDuck wrote:

Re: 2019 Oregon Commit List
It's pretty rare we've lost "official commits" to USC until the staff shake ups. Now, we've lost lots of "silents" and close battles, no doubt. Not that it can't happen.Phalanx wrote:I hope you're right, of course, but it wouldn't be 'magic' if they did. Texas and Florida, there's always going to be those risks for sure, in part due to the distance.

I can't really remember too many, if any decommits we have that have deflected to usc. If it comes down to a final 2 of us and USC, I think DAT and Casey Matthews are the only ones we have won. It's about 98-2 in that scenario.

Re: 2019 Oregon Commit List
I don't believe that Casey Matthews even had a USC offer despite the family connection. A lot of the guys we get with USC offers aren't being recruited by them, but we've gotten guys that they wanted. Arik Armstead, Penei Sewell, Deommo Lenoir, Royce, Thomas Tyner, Colt Lyerla, Lache Seastrunk, Andre Y are some of the more recent ones. I won't even go back to Haloti, JStew, Cam Colvin.lukeyrid13 wrote:I can't really remember too many, if any decommits we have that have deflected to usc. We're going to lose that battle 95% of the time, but not always. With how we're recruiting now I bet there will be more head-to-head battles.
