Gotta introduce the newbie to Hines’esque style of responses. It’s almost a rite of passage, is it not?

It is! You are not really a member here yet until you've been Hines'd during a discussion of a recruit.

It's true. The signups have a feature where you can ask question(s) and they have to put in a correct response, we could include it there.

Even after his OV and how much liked it I thought was still going to Alabama. I am not sure how that will shock the world. Maybe in his neck of the woods they all thought USC, but here most think it is Alabama and that will not surprise anyone.

I'm not going to say it's wrong, but some Schools have an advantage there
No one knows what's going on with KT even jhop doesn't know
I would be surprised if Oregon can pay what bama can offer, however
lukeyrid13 wrote:I think it’s a pretty dumb assumption and insinuation to say that bama only got him last minute cause of a last minute offer. KT has been the #1 recruit for two years now. If he wanted to be paid, he would be and teams would have lined that up long ago. So, either we were willing to get him extra benefits which is a black mark on us, or bama just made a better pitch as the #1 team.
To imply that both Oregon and KT were on the up and up and then bama came in and offered him money and that’s the only thing swaying him is just ignorant at best.
Oregon could certainly “afford” to pay what bama pays monitarily. However, Oregon can’t “afford” to get caught doing so, whereas bama will never get penalized if exposed. Thanks for ensuring a lack of a level playing field, NCAA.

I am not disputing that Alabama pays their players. I am just curious how with the competitive nature of the SEC that they would not be exposed. Social media and cameras are everywhere nowadays. Given the high volume of cell phones with cameras how do they keep getting away with it.

I don't think it's a question of being exposed, more of a case of the NCAA is never going to do anything about it.
A while back some guy went through all Alabama players social media and found that a majority of the players drove brand new Dodge cars. Is there a sweetheart deal with a Dodge dealership? Is anyone going to investigate? No, because it's Bama.
Ole Miss got caught in the most recent blatant cheating, and they got a wrist slap. It wouldn't have even happened unless Mississippi State people pressed the issue. That's the only way it will be caught, if some rival raises a big stink. But LSU, Georgia, etc won't be snitching on Alabama because they are doing the same exact thing. We wouldn't have gotten caught for Willie Lyles if certain forces in Texas and in our own conference didn't make a big deal out of it.
College players will post stacks of money on social media, I forget which one I saw - but they guy deleted it pretty quickly and even if (a big if) someone asks he could say it was a friend's and he was just showing off.
And don't doubt that we have some shady stuff of our own. Was someone going to get Colt Lyerla's mom a house? Probably not, but I've known UO football players that drive cars wayyyyy out of the range of what someone of their socioeconomic status should be driving.
Summation: the only way some program is getting punished for this stuff is if they meet the two requirements of not being significant enough and their cheating is blatantly outside of the expected norms.

I thought about that the other day. We haven't heard of anything regarding in-home visits with Kayvon, so maybe that's just on purpose. I'm sure coaches from all of his favorites are doing in-homes.

From what JHop said in his podcast yesterday, it does sound like the coaches did show up for an in-home this weekend, the same day they did an in-home with Chris Steele.

What was the old saying? The NCAA was so mad at Kansas they put St. Johns on probation?

My friends at USC back in the pete carroll days said their football players used to all drive escalades and cruise around in them.
