Would suck to lose him, but with Redd and Pittman in the slot, and JJIII back, pretty confident they have a good receiving core regardless.

Re: WR Johnny Wilson to decommit?
A lot of these guys were unproven to start the season, and have grown a lot from the experience. They could really blow up this off season. Here’s to hoping that the drops remain a thing of the past.greenyellow wrote:Not to mention Devon Williams, Kris Hutson, and Josh Delgado.Everythingsducky wrote:Ducks will have decent height next year with Addison, Wilhoit, and Waters, all 6’3”+ (if they all stay). Hearing Justin Shorter, 5 star Penn State transfer, #1 WR in 2018, wants to be a Duck. We won’t take him unless Wilson flips.

It sounds like his weight and work ethic were a problem at Penn State. Doesn't bode well for a guy that would have to sit out a year.

Yes, with size and athleticism. Not 6'7, but Wilson is probably a tight end in college instead of a WR, and there usually aren't a shortage of TEs either.HomeSickDuck wrote:Not with his size and athleticism though.StevensTechU wrote:I think the main thing is that if Oregon loses Wilson, they find a suitable replacement. There is never a shortage of quality WRs on the west coast, you just have to find them.
There's a reason WSU and OSU get low rated guys and still have great production at WR.

I hope it's a Baylor-Baylor battle. Hornsby struggles to throw the ball, even though he's a multi-year starter who's been to every camp in the country.GoDucksTroll wrote:Interesting that we're being mentioned for 4-star QB Malik Hornsby out of the Houston area, 247 saying it's an Oregon-Baylor battle: https://247sports.com/Player/Malik-Hornsby-46037405/
Of course if Arroyo leaves our QB recruiting may really change.

Wazzu is largely a result of the system, it's not like their guys are tearing up the NFL. OSU's best WR this year, Isaiah Hodgins who just declared for the draft, was a 4-star that we recruited pretty hard.StevensTechU wrote:Yes, with size and athleticism. I do agree that WR is a position where you can find some diamonds in the rough. But a higher ranked guy has a better chance of panning out. As for TEs, there are plenty of good ones - we just don't have any committed for this year.
I want Wilson, both because he looks like a good fit and for the good publicity of having a higher ranked class/not losing a recruit to ASU. But WR is a position we can afford to lose one. We're not having any problem recruiting WRs, and had to turn some 4-stars down this year.

Re: WR Johnny Wilson to decommit?
The beavers have had a number of WRs that we were too good for that turned out to be great college WRs and NFL prospects. Guys like Wheaton and Hodgins are perfect examples. Hodgins would have been a duck but we strung him along until he finally went with the beavs. Ironically he’s been significantly better than any of the WRs we recruited over him.

The most recent Hudl I could find for him was his junior year: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11581680/5 ... 0c04b7b92aStevensTechU wrote:I hope it's a Baylor-Baylor battle. I have to agree on the arm, he's not exactly slinging lasers. But he can really scoot, looks like he's running around and embarrassing some of the toughest HS competition in the country. Not a first choice, but if we're taking two QBs we can't be too picky this late in the cycle.

I think if he did, we would just circle back to: Gary Bryant, LV Bunkley, Elijah Badger etc.
