the one person bigger who's name was brought up (in cbs article i believe) was jay wright. maybe we are trying to go after him, who knows? but i'd be super shocked if he left a great situation at novaduckgrad99 wrote:Greenblood wrote:Don't know if it's C4Qs heresy to post something from Dwight Jaynes, but he is implying, without saying whom, that the Ducks are going after someone pretty big: http://www.dwightjaynes.com/and-the-nex ... %20Jaynes). Interesting. He says we would be "shocked" who they are going after. Could it be someone even bigger than Turgeon or Dixon?

Rick Pitino? Billy Donovan? I'll believe it when I see them standing on the sidelines.duckgrad99 wrote:Greenblood wrote:Don't know if it's C4Qs heresy to post something from Dwight Jaynes, but he is implying, without saying whom, that the Ducks are going after someone pretty big: http://www.dwightjaynes.com/and-the-nex ... %20Jaynes). Boy, from hearing MB's comments, especially his feeling that it's quite possible that they could have the new coach in place by the beginning of spring term, it sounds like they might well have a good idea about the direction they're going already.

Re: Kent's Replacement
It does seem if they have already started contacting coaches, which contrasts with Bellotti's statements. If they do, make sure they can get one of the Jefferson kids down here.Greenblood wrote:Boy, from hearing MB's comments, especially his feeling that it's quite possible that they could have the new coach in place by the beginning of spring term, it sounds like they might well have a good idea about the direction they're going already.

Well, whom ever they end up hiring. Better come in a make a big splash right away in the PAC 10. It now appears that Oregon is going to demand success on the court from player's and coaches.

I don't see that happening right away unless we can get some players that can help out right away.brich75 wrote:Well, whom ever they end up hiring. Re: Kent's Replacement
Pac-10 is still going to be down next year. Some teams will be a little better (UCLA, Washington State), but some of our better teams are going to get rocked by graduation. ASU loses Derrick Glasser, Eric Boeteng, and Jerren Shipp. Cal loses POTY Jerome Randall, Patrick Christopher, Theo Robertson, and Jamal Boykin. Washington will still be good, but they lose their best player by far (Quincy Pondexter).
Even some of our poor teams lose big pieces: Stanford with Landry Fields, OSU with the Tarvers (and Schatennaar), Arizona (Nic Wise), USC loses Mike Gerritty, Dwight Lewis, and Marcus Johnson.
Oregon has talent. IF we get the right coach, Oregon can make a big splash in a bad, bad conference.

I was reading a couple articles and there were some wild names being thrown out there. One of the most popular was pitino I don't know he has personal issues but I don't think anyone can question his coaching skills

What about Roy Williams? Seems like he is going to be out at North Carolina.greenyellow wrote:Rick Pitino? Billy Donovan? Re: Kent's Replacement
Because of 1 bad season. I don't think they'll get rid of him that quickly. Most rational people realize what they lost from last year's team and knew how hard it was going to be to pick up where they left off.karlhungis wrote:What about Roy Williams? Re: Kent's Replacement
Going after some and signing one to a contract are two different things.duckgrad99 wrote:Greenblood wrote:Don't know if it's C4Qs heresy to post something from Dwight Jaynes, but he is implying, without saying whom, that the Ducks are going after someone pretty big: http://www.dwightjaynes.com/and-the-nex ... %20Jaynes). Re: Kent's Replacement
lol i hope you're being sarcastic. if you weren't, you think they're just gonna ignore the national championship he won them the year before? and ignore the fact he has #1 recruit Harrison Barnes signed for next year along with a few other top recruits? he's not going anywhere anytime soonkarlhungis wrote:What about Roy Williams?
