You refuse to see that Kent had some bad years and probably did deserve to be fired. You keep on the same track of thought with barely any facts in almost every post and thread so most would consider you a troll.

You're a troll because no more than five posts after I call you out for trying to pass your opinion out as fact, you do it again by saying Oregon "obviously showed they couldn't get an upgrade at coach."

You don't know. You assume things, based on hunches. There is not one iota of evidence for anyone to do anything but sit back and wait to pass judgment at a later time and date. Oregon could go 0-29 for the next three seasons and you could look like a genius, or Oregon could go 36-0 the next three seasons and you could look like a terrible failure. Either way, you're still guessing.

And so are the rest of you...I'm not trying to pass it on as fact...I'm just stating my opinion on the matter as are all of you...So whats the point of any thread about anything in the future if all prior thoughts are useless because we won't know til it happens...Cause thats what your saying but I disagree.

You obviously refuse to read because I specifically said I see the same things you guys saw in Kent I just differ on whether we could get an upgrade.

You missed the point. But that's okay.

I'm sure you've explained it before, but I'm interested in hearing why you think Altman is an "obvious" downgrade to a coach on an undeniable tailspin in his career. Are you worried that Oregon's not going to be able to finish 9th place or lower half the time, like what we've been doing under EK the last half dozen years?

No i'm worried that we're never gonna be anything more than a one and done team in the Tourney every once in awhile if we're even that...I don't want to be consistently mediocre and yes going one and done in the tourney is mediocre if thats all you ever do.

lets give him the chance to coach them up and get us
to the tourney. With Ernie we were heading in the
wrong direction. I'm not a Ernie hater either. Just a
basketball fan that wants to see a team play as a team.
If Altman can turn it around and we start getting to the
tourney then the players will come here. But with out him
ever standing on our sideline labeling him mediocre just does
not make sense to me. Just like Chip Kelly people were saying
he wasn't the right pick and didn't have the experience as
a head coach and he came from New Hampshire. Then look
he's pac ten coach of the year, wins the pac ten and goes
to the rose bowl. The thing was tho the people supported the
team, gave him the chance to prove himself. He did have an
awful lot of talent left over, which they dont have in basketball.
Altman is gonna have to coach these guys up to have a chance
to win. His work is cut out for him. It's a business, if he doesn't
win and fairly soon then PK will be back in his plane looking again.

Going by this stance (which I agree with, mind you; advancing in the Tournament is key), you agree that all but 2 of EK's 13 years were mediocre-to-horrendous then, right?

To which, you're worried that we've downgraded to a coach who will be unable to advance in the Tournament more than twice in the next thirteen years? Thirteen years??

Let's get back on the topic of Armstead. Apparently, Seattle University is an option for him. It sounds like Altman may have a problem with Armstead.

I think it's kind of ridiculous to run your starting point guard out of the program when you've only been here for a few months.

It's definitely not good. I'm still willing to see how it goes I'm still pretty jacked to see am actual offense at work

Why? Do you know what Armstead did to create a rift? It's kind of ridiculous to blame the coach without one iota of information.

I have a hard time buying that Altman is the one who is forcing Armstead out, unless there are some more underlying issues that the 2 couldn't work out and decided it was probably best for him to leave.

Yes but I take it from when he got us there the first time til now because he had to build it to that to bring in the recruits that we've been able to bring in. And mind you he had promised recruits they would play in a new arena which got delayed on them...so I'd say to 2 in 9 years runs that deep and two other tourney appearances and also in mine and many others opinion probably get to the tourney this year and then a good run in it the next...Like I said in mine it's mediocre if one and done is all you ever do...You make the few deep runs with a few tourney appearances and thats not mediocre...And yes the bad years are hard to deal with and thats why I said I wasn't opposed to and upgrade to someone that didn't have the ups and downs like Kent but I don't see this as an upgrade and I can't imagine this is what any of you were thinking of as the type of replacement we would get...And I'm going to back this team as always...I'll be at the games and cheer as loud as always but I don't think Altman will ever be able to better than mediocre and I'd much rather have the ups and downs with the ups being that high then just mediocre.

But I agree enough of that and back to the subject...If it's true that Altman ran Armstead I'm at a loss...But I can't imagine he would do that without very good reason....Hopefully we find out why

I don't recall many if anyone saying that. Didn't we essentially force Belotti into the AD role, so that we could keep Kelly?

About Altman..... I have little doubt that he's an above average X's & O's coach and is a substantial upgrade from Kent in this department....

But his success (and every other BCS conference coach) will ultimately come down to how well he can bring talent in to our program (This was never a concern for Chip Kelly). You cant just rely on "coaching kids up". Our conference is just too competitive for that....

Obviously we wont know for sure how Altman will do until the next recruiting cycle is over.

But judging by his inability to "re-recruit" our current roster, it's fair to say he's off to a rocky start.
