Bo Nix is coming to Oregon

Mario&co. deserve as much responsibility and bashing as AB for the poor QB play this year. Not being able to hit receivers accurately on simple passes and inaccuracy beyond 10 years is all on AB. But not evaluating and developing QBs, thus resulting in plays for the QB that are predictive and inefficient, is all on Mario&co. They lucked into Herbert and even his development and abilities were hampered by Mario&co., in addition to the lack of developing decent wide receivers. At the end of the day, Mario is a very conservative coach (not running herbert, simple plays for AB, running straight through the middle to bleed out the clock, etc...), and the inability/lack of innovation and in game adjustments doesn't win the natty. His elite recruiting ability masked alot of his shortcomings. I feel at Oregon he would always have a floor of conference championship games and a ceiling of making the CFP, but never winning a Natty. If he delegates all play calling duties and game preparations to a good coordinator one day, I could picture him being a very good, multi-natty coach.

Our QB evaluation has been garbage for years. Developing a QBs can be a blame, but you can’t develop a bad QB. And we have been bad at identifying legit college QBs. Stars are nice on signing day, but actual talent that can be molded is needed.

I went back through and watched some Auburn tape of the past few years

Good:
- Incredible arm strength
- Willing to take deep shots, and often
- Great at zone read
- Good zip on his throws
- His receivers this year were akin to UO in 2017-18, tons of drops on great throws
- Can scramble and make plays

Bad:
- Throws off his back foot way too often. Like way too often
- Tries to force some throws in tight windows
- Sometimes scrambles when he doesn't need to
- He can spin out of a lot of sacks....but when he doesn't get free it's for huge 10-20 yard losses

Overall, he is WAY better than Anthony Brown for sure. If he can get coached up on his footwork, namely stepping into throws instead of jumping back and slinging it, he will be very effective. I think he is very comparable to Bryan Bennett, who went on and had a brief stint in the NFL but is overlooked by Ducks fans since he was here when we had Marcus.

Good analysis on this new QB, as some people here have the knee jerk reaction that he is worse than AB. I mean every player in any of the Oregon Sports roster probably could have done the same job as AB.

With that said, we also have to start thinking about what we have on the shelf. If they couldn't SEPARATE themselves from AB, I don't think they're as good as everyone is speculating.
