Aaric Murray from LaSalle is looking to transfer

Murray is a 6'10 center who is a very good shooter and can even hit the three. He would be an absolute perfect fit in Altman's offense, which requires big men who can shoot. Murray is a very good shot blocker and a pretty good rebounder too. Coming out of high school, he was a 4 star recruit with offers from schools such as Villanova, West Virginia, Pitt, Rutgers, etc. He may be looking to stay on the East Coast (Pitt would make a lot of sense), but I'd love to see Altman go after him.

Not an amazing athlete, but a very solid all around offensive player. I've seen him play a few times and the best way I can describe him is as a black Troy Murphy.

In his two seasons at LaSalle
12.2 PPG 6.6 RPG 2.3 BLK 44.7 FG% 36 3-PT % (27.5 MPG)
15.2 PPG 7.7 RPG 2.3 BLK 48.4 FG% 35.1 3-PT % (28.1 MPG)

It would be nice to get him, but I'm still wondering who's leaving to let Emory on board.

isn't emory taking Seiferths scholly, or at least what we all suspect? Mops said that we might even take another player which would put us in a more interesting spot. Any of these kids have rich parents who would foot the bill? I also thought it was a waste of a scholly when we had Luke Bellotti on scholarship as a kicker when Mike could have paid a reduced tuition for like 5 grand instead for him.

The rumor that one poster here said a month or two ago was that the German kid had and agreement with Dana that they would see how this year went for him before letting him stay further, and the same poster said Williams might be gone after this year also. Maybe he was right.

Not sure why Oregon would take a kid right now who won't be available next season... Of course, I have seen no actual indications of mutual interest flying around at this time, either.

The scholarship limit issue would be settled if he's only eligible after next season since then there would be scholarships available. I'm not sure if a transfer actually counts against the total the year they are sitting out.

Why would a transfer be any different than a redshirt or injury? Players suspended for academic or other reasons count, I'm fairly sure transfers do also.

IIRC, if a red-shirt season is available, the transfer must use it... If not, the player loses a season of eligibility. It stands to reason that the scholarship would count against his new program's limit.

He would have to walk on for the first year and wait for a scholly to open up.

Pure speculation on my part but JJ is having yet another knee surgery. Is it possible he might hang it up or apply for an additional hardship year to get healthy?

especially if we're still recruiting players

That was me saying Seifert and Altman had a pre-arranged agreement, I've been saying that all year. But I've never said Teondre was going to leave.

Bring him in on a Football schollie - 6-10 Wideout(?). He could then play Hoops. ;)

If only. But any two-sport athlete automatically counts for the non-football sport.

If this were true, the track team would actually suffer when football players such as LMJ and Barner choose to participate.

When Kent's son wanted to try football, in addition to basketball, he automatically went on a football scholarship.

When Tony Gonzales played football and basketball at Cal, he was on a scholarship as a TE.
