“Players have options, and we’ve got to be ready so we’re not surprised this spring,” Altman said. “We’ve got to keep ourselves in position to put a good ball club on the floor next year, so we’ll continue to recruit.”
Altman said he didn’t know of a current player planning to leave the UO, but what happened in the wake of his hiring last April has him prepared to deal with anything. After three UO players announced their plans to transfer last spring, another did so in the summer, another was lost to academics and finally one left to sign a professional contract overseas.
Probably more important to recruiting now is replacing next season’s six-player senior class, with either players who are currently high school juniors or possibly junior college transfers.
“We’ll spend a lot of time on that class and even younger players than that,” Altman said.
