How big of a loss is this?

Pretty big, he was going to be the number two receiver. That leaves Randle, Wright, and Boone.

That may hurt more then losing Jefferson. To bad that off field crap has
to get in the way of what should be a classic game.

Sucks, but it sounds like he suspended more for discussing the NCAA inquiry with a teammate than for actually doing what he's being investigated for.

I'm sure that will change the tigers game plan a bit. I'm sure Miles had ideas using
Shepard with Cliff sitting out. The more that keeps happening the more the game
will be a sideline to the commentators.

This hurts cause he was real similar to Huff....he could run the fly sweep and the zone read as well as playing out wide...Why couldn't we schedule this game for week 2 and actually match up at full strength

You are right...I posted this after hearing about it on the radio, I misunderstood why he was suspended at first.

OK, so we have the second string play to open the season. Then we meet again in January (maybe in New Orleans?) when the starters (ie Harris, Alonso, Shepard, Jefferson, etc) are back and see what happens.

Deal?

Well twitterverse is saying this is Will Lyles related; which isn't necessarily great news for any of us here.

It is as this story confirms why he was suspended.

http://www.chron.com/sports/article/LSU ... 141417.php
LSU, which announced the suspension on Thursday, said Shepard violated university and NCAA codes by discussing an NCAA inquiry with a teammate who was scheduled to be interviewed about the same matter.

The inquiry involves the NCAA's probe of LSU's relationship with scouting service owner and purported street agent Willie Lyles, a person familiar with the situation said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because LSU has not announced what the inquiry entailed.

The NCAA has been looking into Lyles' dealings with a number of college programs, including Oregon.

LSU has acknowledged doing business with Lyles' Complete Scouting Services, but has said it only purchased videos and notes on junior college and high school prospects, which is permitted by the NCAA.

LSU said it paid $6,000 for the materials last December, and has cooperated with the NCAA probe.

Ehh, it is him talking to someone else about the Lyles stuff before they were to be interviewed about it by the NCAA. Not really 'Lyles' stuff.
