Don't worry about the death penalty.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Quarterback Jacory Harris and 11 other Miami players who accepted extra benefits from former booster Nevin Shapiro will be allowed by the NCAA to play again, four of them without missing any games.

The NCAA said Vernon must sit six games and repay more than $1,200 because as a recruit he accepted things such as access to Shapiro's suite at a Miami home game, drinks and cover charges at two different nightclubs. Shapiro, who told Yahoo!]
Forston, the NCAA said, received more than $400 in things such as "athletic equipment, meals, nightclub cover charges and entertainment at a gentleman's club." Spence received about $275 in benefits, Ojomo $240, Benjamin more than $150 and Harris more than $140.
Brandon McGee, JoJo Nicholas, Vaughn Telemaque and Micanor Regis all must pay less than $100 for taking various impermissible benefits.
 This is petty stuff!! If I was a gentlemen's club (we call them strip clubs) and I ran into a bunch of guys that played for the ducks....drinks are on me!! Hmmm, that's easly a few hundred...and if I was as rich as this guy...lap dances are to.

Punishment is fair. No since ending a kid's (key word: Kid) football career for accepting a good time...IMO.

I got no problem with that, do you realize how many free beers and drinks college athletes must get while out even though they aren’t suppose to take it. I imagine spring break alone would account for $200 in drinks.

Do we know what any of these guys actually got given to them? Or are we just assuming they got the same treatment the ex-cane players got? How long has this DB been in jail/prison? He may have already had the FBI looking into him and stopped really paying for anything by the time guys like Harris got to campus.

Either way it shows what happens when you work with the NCAA rather than being arrogant and stonewalling them like the Bushs and SC, which should be good for UO.

The real penalty will be coming down the road when they go after the school. This was just the first step.

I don't sweat the small stuff. It's when they start giving cars and bags of cash is when they need to put the hammer down.

Well sheesh, it's no wonder Jacory went to Miami instead of Oregon...
