Why does Stanford have an ESPN Blog?

Stanford has an ESPN blog dedicated like Notre Dame. Ted Miller covers Stanford in the PAC-12 blog last time I check. Is Stanford's national following suddenly so large that ESPN felt compelled to expand its coverage on the Cardinal? Texas, Bama, Florida, Ohio St., and Michigan don't even have their own dedicated ESPN Blog. Seriously what is up with this?

It defies logic. I know Andrew Luck is a big deal and ESPN is covering him hard, but they seemed to be doing fine having their writers cover him. Sam Bradford, Carson Palmer, Tebow (barf), etc. never drove ESPN start blogs for those teams (which are much more popular nationally).

That is pretty weird. Maybe ESPN is planning on launching a Stanford recruiting site or whatever like the WeAreSC one that just moved to ESPN officially? Still doesn't make sense though..

Seems like overkill for a program that doesn't deserve it.

I asked Ted Miller about it; hopefully he answers this in his mailbag.
