UCLA lost to a Houston team that almost lost to Louisiana Tech this weekend. They were also unimpressive against San Jose State, and got their tails handed to them by Texas.

If Oregon State is the worst…is UCLA the second worst in the Pac? Or are they better than Colorado?

Maybe I’m just being too hard on them..but they just don’t seem to be that good.

UCLA is not good. They have some decent athletes but a terrible coach. They are still able to surprise someone once in a while, like Texas last year but they are pretty bad. I honestly don't know how bad Colorado is but the game next week with OSU and UCLA should give someone bragging rights for the worst in the Pac 12.

Mike Riley teams traditionally start very slow and are pretty decent by years end. I would bump OS(U) to #10.

It still surprises me how much UCLA struggles to field competitive teams. With their location and past history, you'd think they could get some decent players, but they still get really second-class talent compared to USC, Cal, and Oregon and their coaches have been real mediocre. If Neuheisal is fired after this year, I'd think that Bellotti may get a call to be HC.

UCLA has some good players...Owa Odiguzewhe, Nelson Rosario, Anthony Dye, Jonathan Franklin, Cassius Marsh....but they just haven't put things together as a team for like 5 years now. They've had several first round picks on their team too: Rahim Moore, Brian Price, Akeem Ayers. This kind of leads me to belive that it is Slick Rick's fault. They've had some beastly recruiting classes but have nothing to show for it. Their QB play has been dreadful also. Maybe if they had a QB at all in Rick's tenure his job could be saved but having nothing come from the QB position and not developing talent is UCLA and Slick Rick's downfall.

This post could also be in the Beaver thread, but the Bruin-Beaver game tomorrow has the look of a kind of do-or-die thing for both teams for the rest of the season. The Bruins are at Stanford next week, so they'd be looking at a probable 1-4 start with a loss tomorrow; the Beavers are at ASU next week, so losing tomorrow means a very possible 0-4 start. I expect a Beaver victory tomorrow but won't rule out the Bruins entirely just yet.

I think the UCLA OSU game could be pretty ugly tomorrow. Lots of turnovers and bad play.
