Not recruiting per say- can someone update on NaDerris Ward?

I have not heard much about his progress over the last year? And because he lost a year, will he get another year of eligability tacked on? Has he been FINALLY CLEARED to play yet? Seems on paper like he should be something really special as he was so highly rated out of HS and Georgia + + + + went after him. He is a real nice pick-up in my book. I suppose you can't apply his previous rankings to this class, but they do exist (behind the scenes) nevertheless. Certainly adds to this year's group - especially if he made progress and has some time left with us.

It was my understanding that he had to sit out a year due to NCAA rules. Similar to Holland did the year before. Apparently he applied for an exception to the rules but it didn't clear. Ducks should see him in '09.

I'm under the same impression, it wasn't grade related, just the manditory year to sit out under transfer rules

Yeah, sit out transfer rule, he is good to go for next year. He and Dickson should be quite a combo next year at TE.

I think he has 3 left. 3 to play 3 I believe.

I heard he is a big kid. Should help with blocking and post-up receiving (7 yards down and back to the DB for a moderate gain). That is a good thing to have with a smallish QB when it comes to 3rd down conversions. How did his off season go with the team Jhops?

Ward did not get the waiver he was looking for this year to play right away, even though a couple other players nationally did under the same exact family circumstances, so essentially he lost his RS soph year, thanks NCAA. He will be a RS junior next year, 2-to-play-2.

Yeah should be a great red zone threat too.
I don't know about any offseason progress. Sorry.

He has 2 to play 2. Redshirted at Georgia, played as a RS Fresh, sat out this year, and will come in next year as a RS Junior.
