Visited Stanford. Enjoyed the trip. Did not commit. Still claims to be wide open.
Mom went and is pushing Stanford.
He found out on the trip he was accepted into Stanford though. That's not good for us.

Getting into Stanford makes him a lock not to come to Oregon is what I a thinking. Im not too worried as I think the staff was thinking they were pretty much full at OL unless Phillip wanted to come to Oregon.

What about Jamaal Burrell?

It's kind of amazing, when you think about it, to see how many really good football players are qualifying to attend Stanford now.
It wasn't that long ago that they were an afterthought of sorts in recruiting, because of their high academic standards.
Now, especially with Harbaugh at the helm, the 'Trees' are making some serious inroads with athletes around the country.
Havong an entire team of 'smart bombs' has the potential to be a very scary proposition!

I think Burrell comes now. I wasnt sure but after thinking about it and seeing how many we lose this year and then in 2 years I think we take him if he wants to come.

I am not at all saying the kid is not worthy to attend Stanford, but just remember, Stanford and USC are private schools and don't have to adhear to any State mandated acceptance levels. Meaning, exceptions can be made for acceptance if they feel it is warranted. That being said, the schools want to keep standards so I am sure most that are accepted are solid. Just remember that they can bend rules, so some players that make it in might not have otherwise been accepted.

Is it your feeling the Oregon staff likes Burrell more than Siddoway? I hope that is the case, rather than having lost out on Siddoway because they thought they had a commitment from another offensive lineman that subsequently reneged on the commitment. Hopefully Burrell isn't the backup plan for that scenario.

So is Harbaugh still looking for an NFL job?

NO. harbaugh has removed himself from consideration for the NFL. Per his own mouth. That was about 4 days ago.

Ahh, bummer. I thought that would really work in our favor with Phillipp.

I wasn't really that impressed with Siddoway watching him play in High School. He seemed to rely soley on his strength and size and I saw him looking pretty foolish against some mediocre high schoolers who had decent technique. Not saying that he isn't talented or won't be great later on - just that he isn't the end all stud.

Siddoway is vastly over rated. Not very impressive skill wise against a poor talent pool in Oregon.

Stanford has the upper edge on everyone now. Sucks too, because Phillipps is one of the best west OL out there. If you watch some of his 1 on 1 drills, you can see that he has fantastic footwork. Amazing OL.

Stanford is also in the running and looking good for Tyler Gaffney from Cathedral Catholic. He was just named the California football player of the year.
